Stupidly dropped a microfibre cloth on a hot black exhaust. It’s now left an unsightly mess.
Any ideas as to how I can remove it?

Keep the engine running to burn it off or brillo pads

I did the same but mine are standard steel headers, made a right mess. I just used a scotch brite pad and polished off. I’d be tempted to leave yours and wait and see what happens before you start trying to remove, the marks may burn off.

I did precisely this on my Guzzi. I ran the engine until the pipes were warm, then scraped the residue off the pipes with a wooden spatula - it worked perfectly, with no scratch marks.

Thanks for the replies, was thinking of leaving it to see if it burns off but I think I’ll try the wooden spatula now, thanks again.

Be careful with it, and let us know how you get on.

Most exhausts come off with the help of a couple of spanners.

    I'll get me coat...
