My `21 STR came with Pirelli Diablo Rosso III's which are excellent, general sport bike rubber. But...after some hard, hot twisties, the rear tire got a little too greasy for my comfort. I live in the Smoky Mountains and ride curves every time I get on the bike. So, edge grip is my first tire priority.
A set of Michelin Power GP's were installed and they are...superb! Even when hot and pushing it on the edges, they stick like a cat-on-a-carpet. I've run Super Corsa's on other bikes and the GP's seem very close to them in grip. They warm-up fast and are capable of 62 degrees lean angle (which I might not reach but it's good to have some reserve :p). The edges are "black carbon" which is the same compound as their slicks and the centers are silica for wet traction--an ideal combo for me. I have no idea about mileage yet but, if you ride your edges a lot, the GP's are absolutely stellar. Cheers!

I'll have to strongly disagree with your theory on not being able to achieve 62 degrees i'm afraid.
We can ALL do it (up to 90 degrees!) but it's the "getting back upright" thats the problem!!!
    Good review thanks!!!!!

    Update:
After 700 miles of mountain twisties (I do not commute, tour, run errands, track ride, etc.), the GP's have proven their worth to me. They stick tenaciously at full lean on dry pavement and there is no visible wear so far except for slight tearing (balling) from aggressive riding. At cold pressures of 32.5 front and 30 rear with a rider weight of 190 and the suspension set at "Sport", feedback is superior with a clear sense of the credit-card size contact patch. No wet rides yet. With the Michelin Power GP's, the Street Triple is truly a well-honed scalpel and the GP's are highly recommended for riders who prioritize curve-riding! Cheers...

I've used Michelins (PR2 2CT) for years on the ZZR and really rate them. Dual compound road tyres are commonplace nowadays but I think Michelin were among the first to offer them. At 260Kg and 200+bhp the ZZR is very hard on rear tyres but the PR2's handle the job perfectly, anything softer just wouldn't last 5 mins. Michelins are currently in quite short supply over here at the momoent as I discovered when I needed one 2 weeks ago!

Thanks for the really informative review, @CurveRider! And I love those photos of you on your bike. Is there a photographer set up on this route? Looks like terrific roads. :)

    Thanks...!
Yes, there are usually a few pro photographers on the road which is well known as the "Tail-of-the-Dragon" @ Deals Gap on the Tennessee/North Carolina border in the awesome Smoky Mountains. It's 318 tight curves in 11 miles--no driveways, no intersections, no traffic lights, etc., just smooth twisties. I live very near and that is where I ride. It's Mecca for sport bikes and motorsport lovers. Some folks have dedicated track bikes. My Street Triple is a dedicated Dragon bike. :p Cheers!

Ah, yes, the Tail-of-the-Dragon. :grinning: I thought the place looked familiar from your pics. I have never been there although it's on the bucket list. But I've seen tons of photos of that ride. How awesome that it's basically in your back yard! :)
