Any one had a 16/17 R & the gone to an 18> RS?

Was looking to upgrade the brake master on my R & the MCS from the RS would be an easy plug & play over an aftermarket RCS unit. Hopefully a improvement in performance plus they look a lot better finish/quality.

    I upgraded from a 2016 R to a 2018 RS.

If it's agreement you're looking for, then yes, both brake (and clutch lever) are better in terms of finish, feel and adjustability. I've kept the 19:21 adjuster in the 19 position which suits me fine.

I swapped my 2016 R levers for CNC billet levers (eBay variety) and was surprised how much better the originals were when I refitted them before selling. So for me, the MCS 19:21 levers on the RS are perfect - it's almost a relief not to feel compelled to search out an aftermarket 'upgrade'.

Have you got a price for the parts - it looks like £342 for both assemblies on World of Triumph?

I'm not sure that it's going to feel £342 better than what you have o_O

Appreciate the feed back good to hear the quality & feel matches the way they look.
I have heard before people say the factory levers are pretty good these days.
It was more the braking performance, power & feel improvement I was looking for by upgrading. When I changed my 2011 Fireblade to an RCS unit it was a massive improvement.
Did you get on the RS from the R & feel the brakes were improved?

I wouldn't say it was a massive improvement - although the comparison is between a two year old R and a brand new RS...and it was two years ago. I'd say that the RS lever action is more positive and the brake lever is firmer and bites sooner (even on the 19 setting).

To add to the confusion, the clutch lever wasn't lubricated properly and/or were overtightened at the factory (causing the well-documented clutch slip) and the pads are part of a recall that I'm having fixed on Friday. Mine have gone squelchy in the last month...apparently the pad breaks away from the backing plate.

Other than that - they're much better :joy:

I can definitely say that black looks nicer than the raw silver aluminium ;)

Again appreciate the feed back. Sorry to hear you’ve had a few issues that should & can be easily avoided!

It wouldn’t be classed as a necessity but it does cover a copy of bases :p

I must check to see if my 2017 R is effected by the recall.

I'm sure it's limited to 2018 to 2020 models - although when I say "limited', that just the entire production run over two years (globally) of Tigers, Streets and Speeds that use those pads :scream:

If you're up for a little spend-up, then I don't think you'l be disappointed with the result...they are much 'nicer' :yum
