I have my Street Twin on an MCE policy. Today I telephoned to enquire about adding my new (ex-demo) Tiger and was quoted £227 to run till 20th December as a multi-bike insurance. That compares to £115 quoted on line for a separate policy for MCE via the meerkats to run for 12 months from today, which was the cheapest found on half a dozen portals. Same deal, same excess, breakdown cover, legal, helmet and leathers.

And fwiw, Bennetts comprehensive was a good deal cheaper than their TP&T, go figure.

Consider how some riders ride that would not be as impossible as it first sounds.

Zero no claims bonus cuz that's all on another bike. Charge for changing details in the policy, even that was included in the quote, is £20 iirc, or £40 to cancel it. The chap I was talking with when I responded 'Crikey', said 'yes, but that's an online quote'. As I say, the policy cover is exactly the same for half the price. Remind me to shop around when renewal comes round.

This is how they work. If you try to change bike 1/2 way through, might as well grab your toes and smile !!!

I lost a years NCB because I told them to piss off when I wanted to change from SV to Gixxer, they wanted £290 for 6 months or I could start a new policy for £130 with a different provider. !!!!

I told them to cancel and they tried to charge me a cancellation fee of £150. Again told them to piss off and fought and told them I wouldn't pay. Eventually we settled on £30 cancellation fee, basically cos they knew I was never gonna pay up the £150.

I would name and shame, but I know if I go to my current insurer, MCE, they will basically do the same. If you try to make any changes now, you get screwed, change address - money please !!! W@ankers the lot of them.

I'm already on max no claims so I have nothing to lose. Last insurance company to try it on with me lost.
I even got them to admit it was them that were closing the account. So no further cost or loss to me :)
One of the reasons I always tell them at the start that I'm recording the call as well just in any case of anyone disputing who said what.
I don't trust them till I see it on paper.
I thought with multi bike polices the no claims applied equally to whichever you were riding at the time/

Same when I got my triple with MCE, I called up to pay the quoted amount online but they wanted £300 (same perks, excess etc) more on the phone and said they couldn't price match their own online quotes... so I just bought online. Insurance is always a joke!

I remember back on my KTM I asked if I had a GPS tracker added on the bike if it would save me anything, they said it'll be £50 more.. MCE again.

@RoadSprocket , no I will not be tagging in every reply, sometimes it will be twice or more !!!!;)

Talking of kilts, I was wearing mine once at a wedding, the brides granny came over with a glint in her eye and asked "Tell me, what's worn under a scotsman kilt?"

I replied " Madam, I'll have you know, nothing is worn under this kilt, IT'S ALL IN PERFECT WORKNG ORDER !!!!"
