Masks Not Worn Dorset Triumph

Seen this in a few places - customers well masked but staff not.

It hasn't endeared them to me if I'm honest.

Also disappointed in the local supermarkets how few people are aware of where their nose is... And those workers with the sunflower lanyards indicating that they are unable to wear a mask are typically the young, pretty girls. Not sure what it is in that demographic that makes them more susceptible to debilitating lung conditions.

 

I know staff have probably been told not to challenge non mask wearers but I heard a good one the other day when a young “hoodie” was asked where his mask was and he replied “COPD mate” and laughed. He wasn’t laughing too much when someone else asked him what COPD was (sarcastically and non believing I reckon) cos the reply was expletive laden and he chucked his shopping the floor and walked out. #to$$€r

 

An awful lot of people wearing sunflower lanyards appear to have bought them off e bay, I have noticed with some who display them have heavily stained nicotine fingers, one person I challenged stated "I don't get breathless smoking, only when wearing a mask". It's about time stores enforced the no mask no entry rule, I understand a lot of businesses have told staff not to challenge people who don't wear a mask. I was at a well known bikers cafe recently when a fellow biker was refused service as he did not have a mask, he said I have COPD, (he was wearing a buff and could have used that), the owner told him produce an official GPs letter and I will serve you, otherwise wear a mask or leave (bloody brilliant), the guy came out using all sorts of expletives apart from the vital one "I'm a DH"

 

Ask them what COPD stands for, over half of the idiots wouldn’t have a clue, if they really had it they’d know and wouldn’t be such a knob when challenged.

 

I know what its meaning but seem to get tongue tied trying to say it.

 

Heard a good one the other day regarding these lanyards, these are being offered with every Greggs pie, so the pastry doesn’t get stuck in your mask. Nothing against Greggs, it’s just some of the clientele that have time most days

... to be in there between cigarettes whilst roaming round town centres.

 

My local bike shop also wasn't wearing masks yesterday (edit: some did some didn't), and my sales rep even asked if I wanted to take my mask off if I wanted to.

My dad legit can't wear a mask, advanced COPD. Sunflower lanyard? Please lol. Try an O2 bottle instead.

 

I was at youles in Blackburn on Friday and they were wearing masks and the sales guys had screens. Credit to them as far as I’m concerned.

 

My partner works in lung function. Her work brings her into daily contact with people with COPD and other similar serious conditions. The one thing that they all seem to have in common is a desire not to do anything that might make that condition worse. They would much rather stay home or go out in a full NBC suit with respirator than pop on a lanyard and risk their condition deteriorating.
