Well, we all know football is borinjg, so here's a boring story.
I was 6 in 1968 when I started being a Manchester City supporter.
    That's basically it.
    Told you it was boring.

Very accurate, both the thread title and description of football

A guaranteed English winner, that's the main thing. I wish City well, but l can't be alone in thinking the hype about Pep's revolutionary football is overplayed. They just suffocate the life out of teams, very often tedious to watch. But at least they aren't United, who bucked me up no end on Wednesday night by failing to beat the village team from just down the road from my flat.

They made us play it at school. Submarine racing is more exciting.

I’m going to buck the trend. I love football, played it until knees would no longer support me in my late forties. I watch loads on the tele and enjoy it much better than the soaps and other repeats constantly shown:):)

"I watch loads on the tele and enjoy it much better than the soaps and other repeats constantly shown". You must admit, that's setting the bar pretty low...

Actually, I don't mind people playing football themselves, if that's their thing. What I really can't understand is why people 'support' a particular team. It's not as if they are really'clubs' which you can join, with players who are all local lads who you might have gone to school with. They are just private companies, usually the vanity plaything of some billionaire, with players bought from all over the world. Why would anyone support one over another? Genuine question.

Each to there own mate. Money makes the world go around, whether it is football, golf, cricket or motor sport. There are millions around the world who get pleasure out if supporting their chosen team or sporting individual.

As you say, each to their own, Wessa. I just don't personally understand what makes people support a particular team, when they all seem basically the same. Maybe I was just born without the necessary football gene.
