675 Making the Street more suited to touring.

Looking at one or two mods on the wife's 2016 Street to make it a little easier to tour on.

Has anyone fitted a screen or the nose cowl off the older Street onto the new one?

Anyone gone one tooth down on the front sprocket? First gear is so tall..... just want to get it a little closer to the previous model. (yes I know it will rev a little higher in top on motorways, but its low speed maneuvering and slipping the clutch in traffic all the time)

Anyone fitted bar risers? Any problem with cable length?

Found out that Triumph do a full mudguard version of their street only offered abroad so Jack Lilly can get me one to replace the stalk number plate holder, should keep she who must be obeyed back cleaner and dryer.

Possibly should have considered a low Tiger 800 but the Street is the perfect size for her.

 

Interesting you say BMW, the bike she liked most at the NEC show was the BMW R1200 RS.

Interesting day, we took Pidcock Nottingham's Tiger 800 XR for a demo and Carol enjoyed riding it, comfort was good with less weight on her damaged wrist. Liked the engine, but not as much as the Street's, she managed to bump the rev limiter a couple of times as the Tiger is not so free reving. She didn't like the buffeting and wind noise from the Tiger's screen; describing the noise as horrendous.

Verdict...... she still likes riding the Street more; its more fun, lighter and as far as she is concerned it looks nicer. So she is going to do next months Scotland tour on the Street and see how it goes.

Mods so far on the Street: Belly pan, front cowl, heated grips, full engine crash protection including sliders, paddock stand bobbins, S W Motech Sports tank bag with quick release tank ring, SW Motech Blaze soft panniers. We have also bought the item below which is supplied by Triumph in some countries (not here) and when fitted over the existing stalk number-plate stem will make a full mudguard for the back

 

I'm sure many owners will hate the look of this but its on to do a job. Its a Triumph part; Jack Lilley Triumph were very helpful and got it to us next day.

 

Just loading up for next week's camping tour of Scotland, SW Motech blase panniers, Redverse tent strapped to pillion seat with Rokstraps, and large SW Motech tank bag looks like a touring bike now.

 

Just to update this old thread I did a vid on touring with the Street. The good news is she is feeling the love once more for her bike. (but now quite likes the look of the 765 RS!)
