Not my holiday trip this time but some very fine fellows from the UK including:

    Dodge74 - Daryl P1040820.JPG

    Archibald - Andy P1040813.JPG

Engineer getting plastered - Steve P1040830.JPG

and not forgetting (let's face it, who could?) - Colonel Ivan P1040821.JPG

They all arrived at my place at about 5pm, dumped their baggage (I was never introduced to her) and then we went for a little bimble. Sat in a bar by Lac Eguzon drinking a Grimbergen and soaking up the tranquilité.

Then back to Aigurande and to my mate's bar. Guitars came out, French guy doing Johnny Cash whilst Daryl, Andy and Steve entertained us with a variety of songs including some Pink Floyd. John the patron was in his element !

After that, back to the Ponderosa (my place) installed them in the bunkhouse and had more beer before starting on the 4 course meal prepared by my lovely wife Wendy. Much bullshit was talked. The Champagne and various red's flowed until the early hours until Zebedee said "it's time for bed"

Request for early morning bathroom reservation was put in by Andy - more later. P1040827.JPG

Needless to say, Andy DID NOT make his appointment the next morning !!!

Much, much later he slithered from his pit. He had a bit of a concern about his bike and a slipping clutch but hopefully that was rectified by removing the 15 year old engine oil and putting in some shiny new stuff.

A leisurely breakfast was followed by a trip to get some oil whilst the Engineer looked on: P1040819.JPG

Followed by another lovely meal provided by my most excellent wife, more bullshit and photographs :

Hiya Dave , thanks very very much for making our holiday in France extra special , it was really kind of you & Wendy to have us over , and it got our little tour de France of to a great start . Ivan fell in love with Wendy's cooking skills , Andy fell in love with your caravan , Steve fell in love with your bike & I fell in love with Wendy's horse . It was really cool meeting John too , what a fantastic area it is over there . We went on down to St. Yrioux le Perche & eventually found our little cottage in Le Chalard , we just managed to get there before nightfall , partially due to riding round in circles looking for the place but also due to the fact it was quite a bit further than we thought . France is bloody massive ! We had a good tour round the Dordogne , 2nd day in we stumb led across a village called Jumilac le Grand , in which they were setting up an evening of music & drinking , needless to say we all got totally pissed , ended up taking the stage & playing & getting a taxi back to the wrong house , taxi driver had to return half our possessions 2 days later & that kind of gives you an idea of how the week went . The poor people of Le Chalard have now returned back to normality as we've now returned home . We were planning on dropping in to see you again to be honest but the week went too quickly & we were late leaving due to being completely wasted the night before & not really being ready, which resulted in riding straight up to Dieppe to catch the ferry in the nick of time last night in one go which took us around 12 hrs give or take . The ride back from Newhaven to Lincoln felt like popping to the shop in the next town ha ha . Anyhoo a good time was had by all & here's a few pics to show that we didn't just drink lots of beer & go out on the piss all the time , we did try and explore IMG_0077.JPG IMG_0081.JPG

we found the Triumph dealer in Limoges btw , they didn't have a speedo cable in , and ordering was a week , well this is what Andy reckoned after talking to them as they didn't speak English , he did however end up with a pair of swimming trunks though
I saw the Thunderbird that may have been the one you test rode , very nice
