It's great to see posts from new members (& old) posting photos of their new pride and joy.
But I've noticed some are using their smart phones to take the pictures.
Fine if you're out on a ride......
BUT... if you're taking the photo on your drive / back yard / garage please be aware that if you've got gps active it stores your position in the file metadata.
According to MCN Speed Triples are one of the most stolen bikes, so let's not make it easy for the scumbags to find their targets.
Before posting photos of your nice shiny bike where it's normally kept make sure you've removed the position data.

And here's how to do it on an iphone
    1. On your iOS device open Settings app. Now head to the ‘Privacy’ section.
    2. From the menu tap on the ‘Location Services’ option.
    3. On the next page you will see the apps that use your device’s GPS to mark your location and store information about it in one way or the other.
    4. From this list look for ‘Camera’ and turn its toggle off or never whichever turns up
Of coarse this will only do the photos from when you disable it
to do the ones already taken you need an app like gps deloger which is free

And if you have the file on a Windows 10 pc (no app required).......
Right click > Properties > Details and at the bottom is a link "Remove Properties and Personal Information"
In the new window select "Remove the following properties from this file:"
Scroll down to the GPS section and select the info to be deleted.
    (it's easier than it sounds):)

If you go to your post, click tools then edit, should then be able to delete the photo.
While the original photo is still on your PC you should be able to remove location in "properties" (see my previous post).
You can then re-edit your post and add the revised photo.

If you click edit then more options the options of how to post you're photo comes up i.e. Full image, thumbnail and delete, click delete and the photo will go but leaves the script For your photo in your post, select that type and click the cut button, save changes! That should work.

I just found a picture on this site of a bike outside someones house, saved the picture and chucked the co-ordinates into google, using street view I could see their front door.

I'm normally skeptical of posts like this, but it was seriously easy. I've tried some of my own photos that I've uploaded via photobucket, and it seems (for me anyway!) that uploading them that way removes the GPS data.

......Which is why I posted this thread in the first place.

@Rob @MrOrange is there any way the forum site can be set up so that gps data is automatically removed from any photos posted, I'm sure there are many members posting photos in blissful ignorance of the risks they are taking - and might well not see this warning.

It's the "go to" place for Triumph owners, let's not make it the go-to place for the thieving scumbags too.

    Android,
    1) open camera app
    2) press the 3 lines in the left hand corner
3)press the cog symbol for settings
    4) turn off "save location"

Edit: Just tried to locate someone's bike from on this forum, easy as pie. o_O

    Hi all
If you know how to locate someone's bike would it be too much to ask if you could Pm them and warn them of the dangers
I hope I'm not one of them but if I am I would appreciate a message so I can see if I can do something about it
    Cheers

I sent a pm to a staff member and they're going to do it for me. I thought that would be less weird coming from a well known member and not an Internet random haha
