I picked up a brand new Bonneville T100 last Friday and when I came to wash it I noticed that the seat sub-frame tubes were not welded in the same place as each other. I don't know if this is a problem or not but I expected better from Triumph. The tube clearly wasn't in the jig correctly for whatever reason. Have a look, let me know what you think...

While disappointing, I'd actually be happy to be told 'yeah, they're all like that' because if Triumph say it's not acceptable I'm looking at a new frame and I really don't want a new bike torn down and re-assembled.

I will do, good suggestion. I'm in Saturday afternoon so that they can open a case, have a look and take their own photographs. Not relishing the possible outcome at all.

It doesn't look right to me. :scream: Even if it didn't structurally impact on your frame in any way, it's poor and I'd be disappointed as well. Triumph should fix it. I've done the Factory Tour & I was very impressed with the production line & attention to detail shown. Perhaps less so now. Let's hope their customer service is as good. Let us know the outcome FlashP . The mark of a good company is not measured when things are going right, but their willingness & ability to put things right when they go wrong.

    Round your way!
Not right, but probably is acceptable for Triumphs ever diminishing standards!

Don't get fobbed off at the stealer, stand your ground and demand it is replaced.

My concerns would be that if that part of the framework wasn’t held properly in the jig for welding :( could it have had a knock on effect with regards to the rest of the frame  while the welding was being done :(
Probably not what you want to hear but I would take it back and insist on a replacement bike because I would have lost faith in this bike
It’s a new bike  it should be right

Wonder how many are like that, how many owners have taken the time to have a proper look?

You're within 30 days so can demand (nicely but firmly) a full refund or a replacement they should play ball.

I had a Speed Triple replaced because of faults with some hassle unfortunately spoiled the whole new bike feeling and I sold the replacement within the year.

Would be interesting to have the frame checked on a jig for straightness.:worried:

Agree - reject, reject, reject. You don' pay for a major item that is sub standard. All the best...

It occurred to me that the error may originate somewhere else in the frame and as the result of cumulative error, this being the end of the tube if you like, displays a greater misalignment.

I'll let them see it Saturday and photograph it to get the case open and then talk to the CAB on consumer rights. I might also consult an independent engineer if I can find one relatively close by and see what he/she has to say. I'll engage with the dealer/Triumph after I've had my advice.

I personally feel inclined to reject it as a replacement frame on a week old bike is absurd to consider after nearly £9k spent. So, my feelings are largely aligned with many here, good to know.

As an aside, like many other Thruxton owners, I've only just got over the stalling issue after not using it while Triumph eventually resolve a two year old problem. My Triumph experience hasn't been the best so far it's fair to say.

I will of course update here when there is news.

Yes, the Thruxton was. Apparently mine was the first they'd seen with it. I raised it through DVSA as a safety issue.

Made worse by the fact that they knew about it but continued to sell them knowing that they would be the subject of a recall on grounds of safety at some point. Knowingly putting riders at risk. Bit worrying.

This is one of the more memorable moments when it cut out just as I got onto a major roundabout.

What's happened is that tube has been assembled at the joint circled in red incorrectly orientated. It's rotated which has had the effect of lowering the tube end creating the gap and also a wider gap at the yellow arrow. The grab rail boss is also now not horizontal.

I really hope they play ball and offer you a new machine in it's place.
    Best of luck.
