I was wondering what the LT's lights are like for night time riding.....

.....is it like 'day time' with all 3 of the lights on?.......or do they need uprating?.........

....anybody put more powerful bulbs into their LT's lights?......results?......any problems?......

    Cheers,

With the stock bulbs, my son tells me they are quite blinding when he rides in front of me. He has a 1200 sportster...

    Hi Stevie,

......just noticed your post was timed at 1:14am.......

.......I'm guessing you must have just been outside testing and verifying the quantity of lumins that your LT's lights are chucking out!........

Our LT is being delivered soon and I am just thinking ahead of what I may need to do to get it prep'd for the road.....thanks for your feed-back....

    Cheers,

    Hi Stevie....

......I noticed the time of your thread........but......I failed to notice you live in the States!.......

.....I was reading an article about Triumph trying to 'get its foot' into the Harley cruiser/tourer share of the market over there but the view was that since Harley has so many dealerships, more than 800 whereas Triumph having just over 200 but trying to get it up to 300, they'll never crack it........

.....what do you think about that?.....

.....how close is your nearest Triumph dealership?

....we had an Electra Glide about 20 years back.....I'd never have another HD even if you paid me......I had a lawn mower with a Briggs and Stratton engine at the same time as the 'Glide.....I gotta say, the engineering of the Briggs was better!......

....I would be really interested to know why you chose the Triumph over a Harley.....I guess you have friends who ride Harley's......any friction about your choice of bike?

......really envious of you....you must have lots of roads perfectly suited for the LT......any 'big trips' under your belt already?

Sorry for so many questions, just really interested in the comparisons/differences/views from your side of the ocean.

    Cheers,

    dickydido

I had a Storm for a year and 14,000 miles and got nothing but compliments from 'pirates' and all other bike fans. I fell in love with its looks, but once i ordered the necessary acc's to make it comparable to a road king it cost as much as one! I believe the tbird is a better bike but harley dealers will pay more for a used big twin so the buy made no sense. I found a low mile 1 owner with all the acc's and 1 1/2 left on the warranty for about $8k less than buying new and loved it. several 800 mile days never a problem, in fact if the maintenance was more affordable I may have never traded it.

Well dickydido, I am about 3.5 mi from dealership. The T-Bird was the overall winner due to price. Purchased last year, for 13,600.00 USD (2014 model).:p She had 3.0 miles on odometer. As for HD, I did do alot of reseach, as I have had 2 in the past, a 77 Sporster 1000 and a 82 FLT touring. I did not have any problems with those bikes. But when I looked at 2016's, I read some issues owners were having with twin cam engine. Here are just a few problems I did find out from several good sources, that there has been catastophic engine failure do to, flywheels coming out of true, timing chain adjusters wearing out to fast, (plastic), and a oil pump that is to small....only pumps out 3-6 psi. Now, these same sources did rave about the smaller 883 and 1200, claiming that thoes engines are bullitt proof. But of course, I wanted a bigger bike with bigger engine. My son has a 2016, 1200 sporster. As for the T-Bird, I love how smooth it runs, and sounds great with Remus exhaust, and I can actually see traffic behind me sitting at a light at idle. No Harley mirror shake! I just want add, the look of the bike really caught my eye too, and I have to give credit to Triumph with attention to detail,...lots of chrome...:). As for dealerships...not sure....HD is very big here and they do have alot of touring bike options. Triumph would need to concentrateon that market! Talk soon Stevie

    ......

....better still, 'Johnny Strabler'.....since Johnny also rode a Thunderbird.....and he was 'THE' biker that made us all notorious!.....

.....so this must make Stevie 'The Wild ''Other'' One!'...

....many thanks for the feedback Stevie,.........enjoy your bike and especially the ride-outs with your son, they must be so rewarding, sadly, my boy has just turned. 34 and he has only just discovered the joy of two wheels......I have offered to pay for all the training and tests required for him to be able to inherit my bikes come the day....but as yet, no joy,.........bloody kids, who'd have them?.......but I still love him to bits!.....

    Cheers,
