Sprint IS IT HEAD BEARINGS??????

Hi Guys, this may have been asked before but I'm gonna ask again...... I have 2009 Sprint ST ABS.
Took it out for a drive and when I went over bumps in the road I felt a clunk in the the bars> It also did it when I used the front brakes to dive.

Lifted the front up and there is play in the forks. Back and forth it clicks and there is about a 1-2mil of movement.
No oil seepage in the forks. It drives in a straight line when hands of the bars and no deviation anywhere at any speed.

What is it before I take down to the dealer? Can I fix it?

How would this have happened. Too many miles, just a common fault, bad triumph bearings. What would it cost approx to fix. Thanks Mr big

 

Great insightinto what's wrong definitely head stock bearings. I think the main cost is going to be taken everything off. Anyone had this done,be nice to have an idea of cost.

By the way only had this bike a week and the previous owner said he would pay.

 

That's what he expects so off to the shops for quotes. I know triumph will charge an arm at £65ph for this can't be cheap! !!!!!!!

I did. But do you think that it's just a case of loose fitting or what if it's more serious and it's a pitted bearing race. I'll never know unless they check and the seller will pay for the work. If it is just a loose fitting ok but if it gets worse and I don't do anything now I will have to pay cost.
I know that sounds harsh but I only had the bike a week and he said he never noticed it himself. Yet I've only test ridden a triumph and found it straight away hummmm

It probably would be loads if I took it to Triumph Hemel Hempstead but local man is better for me. See what he says

 

Ok took the bike in for a check over and he tightened the head stock up. Took it for a ride all sorted.
