I'm guessing if you worked 499 metres from your house you probably wouldn't need to ride there,

When trying to insure my bikes last year some companies wouldn’t insure me if they were not kept in a garage, another one said if it was stolen from the drive the excess would be double, they change with the wind

Another little gem is that unless it's brick built it's not a garage but a shed  had many an argument that my wooden garage is not a shed and more like fort knox, the main problem is computers making the decisions and not people who are becoming more stupid due to this:confused:

Change with the wind ? Full of wind I'd say, the stinky kind.

Just been getting quotes for the PCX which is due end of next month, Hastings (Meerkats) best, AA over twice the price, and Devitts come a close 2nd, but I found by putting the voluntary excess at NILL it only went up by less than £2!!
So, if I had to claim and had V. E. of say £100 I'd lose that off the claim all for £2 on the policy for Nill?
    Don't make sense!

Well, I got a quote from Hastings about 3 weeks ago for my renewal on 30 September (this month now), so I went to renew the date to start 1 Oct, one day later and it went up by £14.68 for 1 day!
Retrieved the 30th quote and took that out at £95.68, would rather loose 1 day than give them £14.68!
Also the login on Hastings site wasn't working so had to phone them, cheeky sods tried to charge me another £12.50 for phoning them!
Not my fault the pass word would not work.
He waved the cost when he had trouble on the site too!
More cheek than an elephants arse!!
p.s. Just checked it again and it gets worse!
They put in £500 voluntary excess, I took it out as all my quotes are with no voluntary excess and it came out at £124.32!
Thats £28.64 extra for 1 day, fuckin' unbelieveable!

Another new clause which is now law according to the bloke at Hasting, the vehicle is not insured if you leave the keys in it from now on, some used to be prepared to discuss it in an event, but now if you are not on/in or with the vehicle for any reason and you leave the keys in you are not insured for any loss.
Another get out clause for the under writers!

Received my renewal quote for the Tiger from Hastings Direct, increased from £218 to £273.

Both quotes reflected that I’m a relatively new rider (passed test in 2016) and high mileage - 10,000. Not doing anywhere near that, so went online and through the Meerkat, with the help of a reduction to 5,000 miles, significantly reduced the price to £94 from ...

    ... Hastings Direct!

    Unbelievable but very happy.

Hastings have been by far the cheapest quote for me. So much so that I was worried there would be something wrong or not covered. Leaving the key in was emphasised to me, not surprised about the driveway thing. I had the opposite worry as I said mine was on a drive, but had since built a shed. I told them it was now a shed when I renewed, but wouldn't be surprised if they would argue that was a notifiable change that I should have informed them about.

I've just bought a Ducati (sorry, I know, but I felt left out at Costa ;) ), anyway, my current insurer wouldn't add it to my multi-bike policy with the Thruxton & the T&C's on it's own policy essentially read as... If it's not chained up in the locked garage at home, then it's not insured - Wherever I may be!!

    Here we are again!
Hastings wanted £214.00 for the Tiger and Bennett's wanted £194.00 for the Bonneville (both fully comp, legal protection, personal injury, helmet and leathers £0.00 voluntary excess).
Now both insured with Triumph Insurance (same options) for £140.00 and £140.00 respectively. Saved £128.00 by not being confused!
