Hi all. I just brought a 96 Thunderbird 900 as a project.she's a bit of a mess. Someone took her apart put all the nuts and bolts in a bag shook them up and emptied them out on the floor and then whatever fitted will do. I'm sure anyone who has done up an old bike knows too well the joys of getting old bolts that don't fit out. Anyway the reason I adding to this forum is I had a brainwave during my rebuild. The bike I guess had never been cleaned. Every bit of her was either rusty or dull. Parts for her soon start costing silly money. You get to the stage where you think where do I stop.. anyway the indicator stems were compleatly rusty but the alloy bracket was fine and so was the indicator I looked on Ebay for stems but again silly money for a small bit of tube. So I was going to make some when I remember doing radiators at home with chrome rapping. You can buy it in the DIY shop and It cost me peanuts compared to making or buying stems and it looked like brand new. So if you have rusty stems just cover them. It works.

Amazing what abit of foil rap can do. I took it off to show the before pic then slipped it back on. it took seconds.

I have changed the indicators to smaller ones, only because i thought the standard ones looked too big . but to answer your question, i never had any issues with the wrap . The best thing about it was that if their was.... you just put a new bit on;)
