    I have been offered a Suzuki Bandit GSF 600N, 95, 1800miles, for 1300 pounds
. Fork stanchions need replaced and a new back tyre is imminent. The bike is in excellent nick, all round, and comes with fly screen and custom seat aswell. Totally standard and realy, not a mark on it.
    The price is final.
What are your thoughts I said I would call him tomorrow before lunch.

Way too dear, it will cost around 300 quid to sort and that's without a service, battery new fluids etc.

I am surprised at your 600 to 900 tag, DD, the bike is in realy nice nick. I want a project, only they dont come cheap, either out of the box or spending once you ve got em. Only the Sprint is done for this year and the spanners are calling me,( Im not saying what they call me). Nothing much anywhere near. I phoned this guy to night.

To be honest after chatting to him for a 1/2 hour I dont think he wants to sell. He says he has decided to put new exhausts on and will phone me in a week, when they arrive and, that the price is up, cos of the exhausts, so Ive given up on him.

How much can you do to a Bandit anyway? Isuppose if I was that keen I wouldnt be asking on here, eh.

16000, Doug sorry. Honestly I cant find all these cheap bikes on Ebay or autotrader. All the ones I see are 38000 and same price and 500 miles away.

Any way, I had a look at your post DD. The dealer says the photos make it look better. Looks like an import and its miles away so another 200 to get it.
Its interesting to talk about all the same.
I know you can get cheaper down south, cars and bikes, only you buy blind and add on transport costs.
We are a little starved up here, and you end up seeing the same bike everywhere.I visited Huntly motorcycles this week they have a cheap 1200 Bandit (poor ) custom low millage, and theres was a workmates Daytona Ive see on Gumtree for 6 weeks.

For what it is I would like to see it at 1100 but thats not going to happen, his lowest is 1300, for the moment.
In a few weeks it might be less, Im not to fussed, and it is interesting to see how much you guys can buy and sell for down south. The bike is not exciting me so I think Ill have to leave it.

Just a thought Sprinter if you do see something down south you want, you are welcome to borrow my van to collect it, I have a ramp and tie downs, depending on when you would be collecting it I could come with you..that way you would save having to insure the van for a day

I went to Inverness or just north to be exact, Tain, a couple of years ago, to buy a BMW 75, by the time I rented the van it cost me a day and over 100 pounds. The biggest problem is you are cornering, yourself a little, into a commitment to buy before you see. the bike was 450 so a 1/5 more on the price.
If you see a cheap mid range kick start in standard nick please post.

agree you have much more bargaining power if the bikes fairly local, the problem with travelling a long distance is the guy knows you want the bike, saying that when I bought my Hypermotard I travelled down to Bristol for it..about 800 mile round trip for me:eek: mind you I saw loads of close up pics and he sent me a video of it running before hand, we had settled on a price before I travelled down..i think most folk inflate the selling price by 20% (certainly in Scotland anyway) cause they know no ones going to offer the asking price..unless the guy has genuinely priced it competitively in the first place..then you have to be quick;)

My Sprint was sent up I asked the dealer to take photos and he did I asked him if there was any marks, photograph them.when it arrived it had a large 10p sized chip from the front of the front mudguard ( so new mudguard) no one noticed it they said.

I agree with DD, the Bandit is over priced. I see loads of ok 600 Bandits going for £800 to £900.

I guess people will always ask a lot for "minters", it's finding the buyer. But I do see quite a few 600 Bandits going for less than a grand that I would describe as OK. By no means minters but useable.
You've just got to look out for the one's that have been butchered by cowboys.

James, if you are on facebook or will sign up, do a search on "suzuki bandit".
There are several groups you can join. There are always people selling Bandits. They make a good project bike as parts are plentiful and cheap.

Im just passing time and having ideas at the moment all the old ones are to expensive. A hornet might work only, theres the compromise already, no kick. Tube frame narrows it down too. The Bandit was an idea only you never see one without a standard tank for some reason.
One of the best customs Ive seen recently was a Dominator
    Honda-Dominator-NX650-Custom-Tracker-4.jpg
Nice, not for me. I fancy more cylinders and on road, nice proportions all the same.
I save money just looking and some day Ill buy (something) I saw this last week
    https://www.gumtree.com/p/suzuki-motorbikes/suzuki-bandit-1200-low-mileage-12mths-mot/1292427239

Or if I was rich and willing to spend out on a foundation I would buy this

    https://www.gumtree.com/p/honda-motorbikes/honda-cb550f-1976/1294007855

I remember when every second chop was a cb550. I would Bobber it.
    Dream on.
