How lean do new Triumphs run?

I ask because my 6 month old Scrambler has always been a pain in the hole to run when cold. It came fitted with an Arrow pipe and sometimes wonder if it was remapped to suit it. I always have to use the choke (manual throttle) and let it run for a couple of minutes or it WILL cut out until it's warm. I mean it always fires up, just doesn't run right till it's warm.

Anyone else with this issue on their bike? I know that with all the emissions pish they are leaned out to comply but it has got me thinking.

All new bikes are set on the lean side for emissions, modern engine design allows this without engine failure from detonation and a lean engine makes more power as bonus. The new Bonneville req full choke to start and then push in 1 click till warm as normal.

On my bog standard Bonnie EFI I use full choke for initial starting, then within a few seconds push in to half choke, then within 60 secs push fully in and the engine will nicely tick over.
What really pisses me off is that if after several miles I have to stop to re-fuel for example, then I have to use the choke again to re-start, only for a second or two, but if I didn't use it the engine would not start.
I am still learning the black art of the EFI, no carb bikes I have ever owned would need the choke on a fully warmed up engine.

I must admit HT, if it is I can never remember doing that with any of my other bikes or cars.
I was thinking it was more to do with the new EFI set up, it just seems wrong having to do it on a fully warmed up engine.

I have to do it on my Thrux, both before and after mods, it's no biggy, just like having to pull the clutch in while pushing the starter button

The 'choke' on EFI Bonnys is not in fact a choke (which enriches the mixture) it is merely a tickover raise control. The ECU does enrich the mixture during warm-up.

My question there would be, wouldn't opening the throttle slightly with no 'choke' do the same thing ?

Unfortunately no it wouldn't. In the days of carb'd bikes it would've, but EFI's have things called throttle position sensors and if you try to start the bike with the throttle partly open you'll really muck up the EFI start protocol.

I struggled with starting from warm when I first got my efi Bonneville, after asking the question and getting the answer on here, it became a drill, which curious as it is, always ensures problem free starting.
The other drill I have to carry out is remembering to remove the ignition key from the curiously positioned ignition switch. Having left the bike with steering lock on ( key separated from ignition key ) and ignition key in for a few hours in fortunately rural Northants last summer, I had a lucky escape!

    Correct Dave.

All modern day fuel injected bikes and cars for that matter don't have a choke, well none that I've come across.
Don't know much about the efi bonnie as I've never owned or worked on one.

It does seem a little odd to have to pull out a "fake choke" on the EFI Bonnie - something you don't need to do on other EFI bikes. No problem when cold starting, fully pulled out for a few seconds then back to the first click whilst you put your helmet and gloves on. Mine will start OK with with a warm engine after a short stop (like at at a filling station) but I usually go to first click and enjoy the quirkiness of it!
