    Hi everyone!
My Bonnie is due an oil change which I'll do myself so I made this strap-type filter remover

I've used a shoulder strap from an old holdall and a spark plug spanner. A piece of metal pipe would do as well I think but I found this lying around.
Cut a slot into the top with an angle grinder. slide the strap in, squeeze together... DONE!
The bottom takes a 14mm socket on this one but you could also use a screwdriver to undo the filter.

Can you see how it got bent???!!!!! I had a real struggle to undo the filter!!!!! Don't know which idiot tightened it so hard the last time!!!!!
Never mind..... I got it off in the end but had to wrap a bit of masking tape round the filter for extra grip of the strap.

Another thing I do is to loosen (NOT REMOVE!!!) the filter BEFORE I warm up and drain the oil. This ensures you don't have to struggle with your hands near the hot exhaust pipes. Loosen it so it's just hand tight, making sure it's not leaking, and you'll have it much easier when you replace it after the oil has drained.

You don't wanna end up with your oil drained only to find later that the filter doesn't wanna come off!!!!

I have heard that the filters are a bit of a pig to get off so looks like a great bit of kit :upyeah:

    Cheers,guys!
It's actually not too bad to get to the filter.....the only struggle was to loosen it because whoever fitted the last filter must have overtightened it.
I've put the new one on just handtight, that's enough.
