Well to be honest I don't think I'd ever wanted to ride another bike after a horrendous crash (bike v bus) yup everyone knows bus 1 poor bloody bike an rider 0 .27 months in hospital couldn't recognise my bike it was swept up not picked up.that was enough for me.that was untill November there I was drooling over the bikes on eBay .the wife said what ones do you like? Me.all of um.nothing more said.actuly I was looking at a tornado red Daytona .(don't tell anyone I fell for it instantly)☺️☺️☺️☺️☺️.so my wife done the next best thing I guess bless I'm now the owner of a sprint 995i 99 plate.spares or repairs .since I've had it I've been reading all the latest mods never had them in 1977 best you got was cafe racer bits dresda fairing twin head lights rear sets job done.now a whole world is one big shop so loads to choose from.although being 63 I still see things a bit different from the norm.(I believe the wife said that the word was big kid.well I'm cool with that.ive stripped the fairing off I'm kinda going to add a bit take a bit . first job get a Daytona rear sub frame also Daytona rear fairing I'm hooked on the two torpedo tubes + I like that look.im thinking 1050 wheels I'm on a really tight budget so I'll get the bits as an when. Not a happy bunny at the mo.sunday my mate brought his battery over just to see if it would start.turned the key seconds later lots of smoke.turned the ignition.rectifier went pop so I'm guessing the stater plates cooked as well .so that's going to need fixing.i will post some pictures up soon.
Interesting punctuation. Welcome to the forum. Totally with you on being reluctant to get another bike after a big smash. I spent six months in hospital with 18 ops, and 30 years later wobble about when I walk. It’s not all fixed. Still a neighbour of mine died of COVID and had never ridden. I got off lightly. Have fun.
Hi thanks for the welcome.i have the same problems don't walk in straight line legs hurt in the cold winter days.ive not been away from bikes all together.after 3 years I went back to riding grass track and speedway both solo and sidecar.500 solos 500 and 1000 right hand sidecars.done good at it but as always fate rose her ugly head out .two meetings on succession I fell quite heavy thought my kidneys were bruised but not sadly for me it was way more sinister .now I'm cool getting there there's not going to be a happy ending so live for today make the time count and laugh an smile slot dose the world of good. Nice to meet you fella.
Hi Arthur and welcome to the forum feel for you with your injuries, my joints are no good, happy to have you riding a Triumph (that girls a keeper)
Welcome Arthur, welcome indeed from all, ahem, of the older generation. I'm afraid it's none of that new fangled magic wizardry of those 955i things for me. I wouldn't understand the idiot lights let alone a liquid cooled motorcycle engine - jeez whatever next. Enjoy it, my friend, while it lasts. (Those modern thingimemajigs will be washing machines ages before my old Trumpets are on their last legs).
Thanks fella.yes back in the day I had a Bonneville trident.rode t200 on the grass track .To be honest I never knew I was getting the bike.my wife bless her got it from eBay spares or repairs .yes at first I was Oh Christ how am I going to do this. Well I've started now got the loom out going to source a brand new loom..seen the stator mag and rectifier so when the penny's are spare .Hopefully it will be a nice summer maybe not this year but she'll be ready for next year. Ride and stay safe fella.
Ah.☹️ Took the wiring loom out today that is now scrap.wires cut joined with duck tape. Then took the cover off the mag stator. oil .(note to self.this don't look good) so retired to the kitchen for a cuppa and think. Went back to the beast.(not the wife).I started to look for any indication of water oil don't take long.breather was dripping in it and inside.looked at the rocker box silicon sealer.so drained the engine gave the oil time to settle yup got to sort that now.are the heads hard Todo? Ordering Haynes manual tomorrow.one more bloody job.
