Well my story is bought a Multistrada 1200s 6 months ago great bike only problem was the rough running and surging at under 3000 revs, i was at first going to get the Tex but was seduced by the Italian. Well all i can say is what a mistake i made going to trade the Multi in at Lagunas maidstone at the weekend yes iam going to get stung a couple of grand but i need to put that smile back on my face i had the 1050 tiger 5 years ago and loved it, so all being good the order for a new Explorer 1200 should be placed on saturday :upyeah:
Hi screwball i take it by that us Southerners are few in numbers need to get that sorted, i use Lagunas all the time fingers crossed they're going to be gentle with me i can see a huge loss on my Multi, got to have a few toys on the Tex so thats going to cost me even more but as they say you can't take it with so spend my pennies.
Hi welcome to the forum from another former Multistrada 1200 S owner. I had my Ducati new in 2011 and ran it for 17 months putting 15000 miles on, great bike to ride when it worked: :frown: My bike was returned to the dealer 7 times with problems ranging from back brake failure (gave up in the end trying to get a good brake), remote steering lock failure, clutch master cylinder failure, re-mapping to prevent surging (but forget riding below 3k revs) in the end I had a high speed cut out and cut back in that could have very easily killed me..... The following day I chopped it in at Pidcocks Triumph for a new Speed Triple; lost a bundle of cash but glad to get shot. Test rode the Explorer and liked it but felt large compared to the Multistrada, anyway she who must be obayed said I had already spent too much on bikes so basically did a straight swop from my 17 month old Ducati to a new Speed Trip ABS. No warranty issues to report :upyeah: Good luck with the new bike
Well i only went and bloody done it, went to lagunas today took the Tex out fell in love left the Multi there and will do the deal saturday,Hi Richard i know all the faults with the Multi it seemed a never ending battle but in two weeks the new baby will be there
Hi W. I've never got on with Ducatis for two reasons - 1. I tend to ride with the 'balls' (NO MISQUOTES, PIG!) of my feet on the pegs and most Ducatis have that exhaust shield where my right heel wants to be (although the Multistrada wasn't too bad in that respect) and 2. As you've mentioned the fact that f-all happens below 3-4,000 revs is not only a little disconcerting but makes for a crap ride. Welcome back to the dark side.
