Hi all I’m new here and haven’t yet got a Triumph.
I have a BMW F750GS and I love it but I had a couple of heat attacks and a quadruple heart bypass last year and I’ve lost weight now weighing in at 8.5 stone 55kg and I’ve lost around 25% of my strength, I’ve tried the BM but it’s to tall and heavy I don’t feel safe. It was always on the side of being to big and heavy.
So I’ve been looking around and fell in love with a 900 scrambler its lower then the BM but the same weight. I’ve sat on one rocked it side to side and so on, it feels ok I’ve yet to try one but worried about it.
So my question is, is there a short (5’5”) light weak person out there who has one and how do you get on with it?
I know the lighter 400 is out in January but I don’t think it looks as nice and it’s a bit under powered for me.
    Thanks in advance Martin.

Hi Martin. I’m in a very similar position to you, in that I’ve been ill for some months and my weight has dropped as a direct consequence from 11 stone to 9.5 stone (including a fair amount of muscle mass). I’m also a similar height to you at 5’6“.

I had been riding a Harley - not a huge one, but 700lbs of weight nevertheless. I too began to find it unmanageable, and in the end traded it in for a T120 Bonneville. The Bonneville is 200lbs lighter, which still makes it heavy compared to many bikes of its ilk. However, the size is far, far more manageable in my present condition and I am 100% sure that the decision to change was the right one. I hope that gives you confidence in your own decision-making.

With regard to the scrambler 900, I recall testing it some time ago and, although not particularly challenging, I did find that it had a relatively high centre of gravity. Have you considered the Speed Twin 900, which you may find slightly easier to manage given that it wears its weight a little bit lower? The Speed is also 12kg/31lbs lighter.

Thanks off to try a scrambler in a couple of weeks when back off holiday.
