If you look on Google 'images', you'll see loads of T300's modified / customised, some good, some frankly 'orrible'. Many move the battery higher up just where you certainly don't need any more weight, that is; under a seat hump.

Question is Chaps & Chapess's.... what do they do with the expansion tank? It's one of lifes unexplained mysteries like "where is the air valve located on a blow up doll"?

Now I don't want any answers (no - none at all thank you) to the blow-up-doll aspect, but I would like to know about the expansion tank, and does it have to be located at a certain height relative to the radiator?

    All the best, Des.

    well no replys than,
the best I can offer is, I have seen some mods where the expansion tank has been removed and replaced with a expansion clear tube on the side of the frame and I would guess it would need to be somewhere near the top of the rad or an air lock would be creared ? but that is only a guess as I have never thought about doing it or looked in to doing it,
    hope this helps.
    Keith.

Ooo-er Keith. That sounds a bit risky, but I guess that as long as the tube is the same capacity as the tank - it doesn't matter. I've never really looked into doing it, but I've noticed the lack of expansion tank on a lot of custom T300 bikes, and wondered how/what they'd done it.

Similar I guess to that horrendous thing the do with rear brake res' and just a silly by the sound of it!

Thank you for your posting, never thought of that. Best wishes. Des.

Yes the key to you reply was 'keeping an eye' on the reservoir level, I wouldn't trust myself to do so. I like the feeling of hauling around far more fluid than the system actually needs. I'm 'old school' / Lazy / stupid.
