Hello: I successfully installed the right mirror, but am struggling with the left one. I was able to remove the small plastic piece shown here:

but I cannot figure out how to fit the handlebar plug that came with the set. Is this the correct handlebar plug that goes in its place? The instructions are quite vague. I can install the mirror without replacing this piece, but then there is a bit of a gap between the mirror and grip.

Hi @Jbizzle76, forgive me if you know some of this already.

I don't think you should have removed the plug, so if you can put it back. What you think might be the plug is in fact a spacer Triumph use in the packaging of the mirror kit, it slots into the gap in the mirror stem where it clamps around the handle bars.

If you bought the kit new, it would have come with a spacer like that slotted into each mirror. The kit also comes with spacer rings for 22.2 and 25.4 mm handlebars. You want to use the 22.2 version (they have the smaller hole).

It reads like you've already successfully fitted that to the RHS mirror, with the plug back in place the LHS should be just as simple.

There will be a small gap (~2mm) between the grip and the mirror stem, this is normal.

If you haven't already, follow this link to Triumph's official instructions

    A9630716-EN.pdf (triumphinstructions.com)

You will see in the instructions that the kits that supply a replacement plug are A9638132, A9638133, A9630205, A9630206 & A9638154. It looks like they use a different friction ring as well which would appear to fix the mirror stem in a particular position.

You probably know this as well but you will also need the flat bar end finishers to tidy up the end of the bars, details are in the instructions.

Hope this helps. Good choice of mirror by the way:cool:.

PS I think I've successfully uploaded a highlighted version of the instructions for you as well.

Thanks Paul, appreciate the detail. However, the only way to utilize the 22.2 version (smaller hole) is to remove the plastic piece I highlighted in my first pic - otherwise, it does not fit. As such, there is a gap in the handlebar (not the gap between the mirror and the grip, but inside the round part of the handlebar). Here's a pic - you can see the empty space inside the bar. I think I've given up and accepted that this is just how it will look on the LHS. (Thanks for the compliment - I do love the mirrors!!)

That's really weird, forgive me for asking but did you buy the mirror kit new with all parts present? And have you got the friction rings in the right position?

I've fitted the angular version (Intended for the Rocket 3 models) A9630721 to my 2018 Street Cup; I didn't need to remove the plug and it uses the same friction rings.

You could try ordering a friction ring that doesn't require the plug to be removed PNo.T2060499 as fitted to the Street Triple RS.

It is weird. I ordered and received this part:
    upload_2024-3-20_18-29-15.jpeg

it included all the parts shown in your highlighted PDF - nothing was missing. I am 99% sure I am fitting the rings properly - the right one was so easy! I will look into PNo.T2060499.
