    Hi All

    New member here. Thinking about buying a Tiger 955i (2005)

    Is there anything I should be aware of, or look out for? Pros and cons? Known faults or issues?

    Thanks

    Ollie

    Hi Ollie, I'm in the same boat.

    Here's what I have learned:

    1. Engine capacity change in 2000/01, from 885 to 955cc;

    2. Alloy wheels available from roughly 2004;

    3. Peeps who moved from 955i to 1050 preferred the 'character' of the 955;

    4. Supposedly better comfort on the 955 compared with the 1050;

    5. Can be an issue with the plastic fuel tank reacting to the Ethanol in modern fuel.Causes bubbling of the paint.

    6. Heated grips are common but not std.;

    7. Pannier and top box inner bags are available from Triumph.

    Overall the bike (955) is highly regarded, capable of big miles (if well looked after) without issue, all day comfortable, that's why I want one too !!

    Latter ones seem to be better equipped and the ones to go for. Pay £2000 for a high miler (70-100k) up to £4000 for a mint low miler - I saw one recently on Ebay with 7000mls on the clock and full luggage.

    Here's the ones I'm watching:

    Brilliant, thanks Dave.

    Re this:

    I think that's when they went from carbs ("Steamers") to fuel injection?

    Re this:

    Yes, I had wondered about that! Not good and only going to get worse imho

    Re this:

    Alas, that take me to *my* ebay summary (i.e. mine not yours!)

    I'm currently riding an ex-army Harley Davidson MT350 (a Rotax single engine) with a few after-market add-ons (heated grips, Avon Distanzia tyres etc.). It's been a great bike but I want more power for motorways etc without losing high (and v. comfortable) riding position or luggage capacity.

    I'm not sure, but I won't be using Ethanol fuel anyway.

    Hi all,

    Got the bike yesterday, silver 2005 with 41k on the clock, vgc, £2,300

    Great bike - powerful, smooth, comfortable.

    May I ask a stupid question? I want to fit a beeper or buzzer on the indicators so I don't leave the turn signals on. Is this easy? Can anyone here recommend me one (there's lots on eBay)

    Thanks

    Hi Revo/Ollie, it's not something I've done, but I imagine it'll need to be connected in line with the flasher relay. You might even be able to buy a new relay that has a noise maker built in? In that case it would just be pull the old old out, push the new one in and Bobby is your Mum's best friend.

    Thanks chaps that's what I did on my last bike. Unplugged the unit, plugged in the new on with the annoying as hell beeper and done in 5 secs.

    Any idea where the flasher unit is on the 995i tiger??

    Pics to follow!
