Hey guys! Newbie from the Philippines here. Used to own a Trident 660 then recently upgraded to a Street Triple RS.
Thank you for the warm welcome guys! Loving the color too although really paranoid about getting any scratches on it, will probably have it Diamond/Ceramic coated soon.
Greetings and welcome to the forum, Rico! That is a beautiful bike. I hope you enjoy it--I'm sure you will! Hope you enjoy the forum, too.
Nice bike! Triumph finally started doing nice paint jobs again, thats the pick of the range in my opinion.
I completely agree regarding the Trident being a sturdy bike. Having a few niggles with the Street Triple I've never had in the 2 years of owning the Trident. Nothing major really, like what seems to be the cam chain tensioner rattle on start-up and a low frequency vibration when I release the clutch. Spoke to the service manager in our local dealership and we agreed to do the first PMS first and see where we go from there. Even with these minor niggles though, not an ounce of regret with the upgrade. Loving the bike!
Sure, but unfortunately, I'm an average rider at best and my riding experience is quite insubstantial (CBR400, decades ago and the Trident 660 before this ST RS) so I'm not sure my feedback would be of any use. Aside from the "niggles" I mentioned above, I find the transmission a bit rough when you're on the cusps of being a gear too high, unlike my Trident that handled that perfectly. That could really just be by design though. The quickshifter, if I don't snap the gear in as fast as I can (say, when shifting up, my foot stays up for a split second or so), the shift sometimes takes some time, like the clutch is engaged until i let go of the shifter. Again, quite possibly how it normally works (my first bike with a quickshifter, ever). Otherwise, compared to the Trident, it's faster (in a scary way, for me at least), sharper, effortlessly holds your line in corners and you can adjust said line easily and accurately, stopping power is incomparable, ST RS is phenomenal here. Fit, finish and the quality of components, again, night and day for the ST RS. Probably not important for the Europeans and Americans here, but essential for us South East Asians, the cooling system compared to my old Trident seems to be so efficient and therefore, extremely reassuring. If you're stuck in heavy traffic, the gauge, stays where it is, your right leg gets roasted though as the radiator fan is REALLY strong comparatively and seems to be ported to the right side of the bike. Conversely, the temp gauge in the Trident will keep going up until you move. Fortunately, it never overheated on me. Suspension is, under normal use, stiffer than that of the Trident but almost imperceptibly so, and you can adjust it to be softer unlike that of the Trident (standard setting from factory, and I'm 155 pounds). The weird thing is, I hit a substantial bump a week or so ago going around 70 km/h, I thought it was going to be really bad but it just soaked it up, I was amazed! Ergos are definitely more aggressive than that of the Trident's, I have to consciously use my core to keep the weight off my hands and arms (I'm short at 5'7") or my hands go numb. Take note though that I haven't had the first PMS done yet, hopefully by next week, 185 km to go. I'll ask them about the OBD Port as well when I do so. Hope that helps.
