Hi all, New joiner here! breif background - I had a 125 Honda to learn on before passing DA and picking up a street triple 675 in black which I had for around 3 years. I loved that bike but fell for the sexy lines of the Daytona so swapped out the naked for the sports bike. The Daytona was a beautiful bike but I built an obsession with getting something bigger so after a couple of years I traded it for a Panigale. The Ducati was stunning to look at but I found it increasingly uncomfortable to ride long distances so did a criminally low number of miles in the 4 years I owned that. It was hard to part with, but I knew I needed something that I would use more. So, I have just picked up a Speed Triple which I love so far. I had forgotten how much more I enjoy a comfortable bike! The Speed is the RR model, but with an RS front end - so the clip ons replaced with the RS bars. For me, that gives the perfect combo of the RR suspension and more upright position. I need a tail tidy which I will get sorted in the coming weeks and I also need some new mirrors. The passage to the rear of my house is very narrow and the bike barely fits so I need to remove the bar-end mirrors for more conventional bar-mounted ones - does anyone have any suggested makes to look at? A few pics of my bike history - afraid i don’t have any of the street on my phone. Cheers DB
Welcome! My son has my old Speed Triple (2004), which was a riot to ride! If you want to improve the riding position further, add bar risers of 30mm or so (as I did) and you will appreciate the change, especially on longer rides! My son added bar end mirrors which fold back ("lane splitting" mirrors, he tells me). They improve rearward visibility but easily fold in to avoid narrow passages or inattentive drivers! PS Lane splitting is legal in some states in the US, but he tells me that he only "filters forward" at stop lights as a nod to safety. Good luck with the new ride!
