Hello all. I'm a Brit ex-pat now living in Oklahoma, and have loved motorcycles of all types for most of my life. I currently own a 1998 Thunderbird Sport (Red) with stainless steel pipes and it makes a fantastic noise. Admittedly, for the last few years I haven't ridden much, but I'm know getting back in the saddle again.
CurlyWurly. Great picture there and even better intro. You will fit in here in the asylum nicely. Joe
Wow, what a great welcome, and thank you. I've been living in the USA since 2009, before then I lived in Malvern, UK, where they make the Morgan sport cars. I do miss the UK, especially going to the circuits, I think I must have been to most of them, I was pit crew for amateur 125 Supercup for awhile, and my all time favourite, Olivers Mount, Cock O' North Race, if it's still on please go, you won't regret it! I have lost of great memories and stories from then, I'll save that for later! I'm not that mechanically knowledgeable, but I have picked up a few contacts and things a long the way, so I hope to contribute back when I can.
Hello Curly and welcome to the forum Had some friends who lived near to Malvern at Ledbury. They both worked at St James Girls Boarding School in Malvern.
I know Ledbury well, nice ride out from Malvern to Ledbury on the A449 which I have done many times, short distance but fun.
Bikerman - I know Lincoln a little bit as by cousin lives in Eagle Moor, so have visited a few times, my uncle was a Vulcan pilot based at Scampton why back in the day.
Ah, Kiddy, use to love racing along what was known locally as the "dual track" from Worcester to Kiddy! I worked briefly (very) in Kidderminster, for a company called Klark Teknik, are they still there?
I love the Vulcan and remember when it was able to take off on full ‘give it some’ power. Awesome. A few years ago my kids were at their cricket club next to an air show base. We were all clearly more interest in watching the planes that used the ground as a turning point (and as it happens the road I live on as an alignment run - we have got Red Arrows pilots to wave at us mid display but think that was because the wife was so excited she was waving her knickers in the air). This meant we saw the Vulcan at near hedge top height passing gracefully and slowly over our heads - if I was quick enough (and had enough fingers) I think I could have counted the rivets in it as it was so low. Edit: It was iconic.
Someone works in Kidderminster?!? They’ll be voting Tory before you know it! Oh, they did... Edit: Clearly upwardly mobile.
Yeah, it was getting much like that before I left for the US in 2010, in, fact it was known then to be a speed trap. I used to be a bit of speed demon, but in 2000 I had a close call on the A4103 at Bransford, totally my fault, and came out completely unscathed, but it was one of those moment in life where you suddenly have to re-calibrate. Before the incident I was considering trading in my Ducati 900 Monster for something a little faster, after, not so much. The realization that I only was only getting older and slower in reflex came to the forefront, and was only going to end badly for me,
