I owned a 1996 Trophy 1200 that I loved dearly but sold when we moved to Iowa in 1998. Sometimes you make sacrifices for the family. I subsequently owned a Kawasaki ZX11 and a Honda ST1300 and a Goldwing. Really good bikes but Honda’s are almost too perfect and the soul has been engineered out of them. This year I was looking for a new bike. Something that would make me feel like I was riding a “real” motorcycle. I took a 2017 Bonneville Bobber for a ride and it was a kick but to be honest, the dealer wanted too much for a 2 year old bike. He just wouldn’t deal on it. Then I saw a 2018 Speedmaster set up with higher bars and Vance & Hines exhaust and a solo seat and I was smitten. Took it for a ride and fell in love. It rode a bit smoother than the Bobber but was still a blast to ride. Bought it and rode it home. In love ever since. I purchased the Tec X-Pipe and will install it this week.
Hello, IowaRat, and welcome to a great forum! I live in Arizona and am finding it quite interesting and great fun to be on a forum that's composed mostly of members from the UK and parts therein. It's a great bunch of folks. Very welcoming and very helpful. Welcome also to the wonderful world of Triumphs. That new Speedmaster of yours is a beauty. Congrats! Where are you from in Iowa?? I was born there and lived in Lake View until my family moved to southern Minnesota where I grew up on a farm. My dad and one of my brothers went to Iowa State. Mom was from Dennison. Looking forward to seeing more pics of that sweet bike and to hearing about your experiences with it.
Welcome. Nice bike We can be a teeny bit sarcastic and it only takes one of us to have an argument Other than that we’re mostly harmless.
Welcome brother, this is a great forum and I have enjoyed it very much. From your neighbor to the northwest. Sioux Falls, SD 1996 Sprint Owner for 23 years, 50K miles, best bike i have ever owned. Ride hard, I have and it's been the true passion of my life.
Welcome from Virginia. Beautiful bike you got there. The first comment was spot on. The folks here are some of the nicest and most welcoming bunch of any forum.
I live about 20 miles from Ft. Dodge. Originally from South Dakota. My oldest graduated from UNI in Cedar Falls. It’s great to hear from forum members familiar with where I live.
I am originally from Huron, SD. I bought my 1996 Trophy 1200 from the Triumph dealer in Sioux Falls (A-Tech Cycles). They let me take the Trophy on a weekend test ride. I fell in love with that bike.
We do have lots in common it seems, IowaRat! My mom graduated from UNI when it was Iowa State Teacher's College way back when. My dad and the older of my two brothers went to Iowa State. My little brother and his oldest son went to South Dakota State. My little bro's youngest son will be attending Augustana this fall. It's a small world.
