:eek:I don't think he ever will.

I am a big fan, he's a great character, what bike racing needs (have you ever listened to Ian Hutchinson talk !!! - character bypass???), but he admits to getting distracted after a few laps. Look at his record around the Irish road races, they are fantastic results, but never seems to be able to do it at the TT or NW500, which again, he says is boring.

He's a short track road specialist with a brilliant record of achievement around the Ulster, etc. Just because he's never won a TT or ever will, doesn't detract from him being one of the top road racers of the past 10 years.

Good luck to him this year, and I will be cheering him on, but a serious underdog after a big injury and a year off.

Plus Hutchy is just so quick, have to admire him coming back from injury and re-learning the controls to ride a bike - awesome speed. He's still as boring as hell to listen to.

Will he be able to go the distance on the PR that Honda will throw at him. He's known for his dislike of the media.
On the other hand what a scoop for Honda.

    What a 'Guy'
I've been watching loads of YouTube clips and documentaries and they are so varied and interesting.
Doesn't suffer fools gladly and why should he!
He is a bit like a modern day Fred Dibnah with his interest and knowledge in all things mechanical.
Don't think Fred could have matched him on a bike though.

I've said it before, and I'll say it again.
I think he's to high profile for the TT, he's to well know.
Should something awful happen to him, everyone will be on the ban the TT bandwagon.
Don't get me wrong, I think he's great. But you ask a work colleague or average Joe down the pub to name a current TT rider, Except for Guy Martin, they wouldn't have a clue...
For someone who doesn't like the limelight, he's on the tv all the time.

There is something within the psyche of the great riders that make them 'special', that absolute desire to win, second place for them is losing, and that makes for great and exciting racing for both rider and spectator alike.
I'm sure you've all seen the interviews or even spoken with them, they all fully understand the enormous risk of road racing, the one thing they have in common is, they all say it is like a drug they cannot get out of their system, that racing gives them a 'buzz' like no other and chasing that elusive title is like a big magnet constantly pulling.
It is certainly not safe and never will be, but the revenue it generates and the enthusiasts love for motor cycle road racing will in my opinion keep the TT alive for the foreseeable future.
The families of the racers are the unsung heroes in this and should not be forgotten.
