Just joined up and thought I would say hi and introduce my self and new toy I am Drew and from the Bolton area (anyone on here go Rivi Barn?) had many makes and models of bikes over the last few years... GSXF750, GSXR1100WC, Bandit12, RF900, Thunderace... then a couple of months ago was planning on buying a Blackbird or similar so sold my Thunderace and then was let down on some money I was owed... bummer need a bike to commute and bought a v cheap RF600. Now cash finally turns up and I'm looking for something better than the 6 (running it into the ground lol) so goes down my local 2ndhand dealers for a peruse, nothing much really then something big and yellow at the back caught my eye.... hmmm Daytona looks quite modern bet its not v old will cost too much (have to admit not too up on Triumphs)... no tis P reg will have mega mileage on it then.... 15k  Start that up please I ask.... he drags it outside puts a bit of juice in and hits the button.... starts straight away... and... OMG what a sound cant remember ever having heard a 955cc Triple running before. took it for a spin and just wow straight back and put a dep on it will be picking her up on Wednesday.
Hi Drew and welcome to the forum. The T595's are great bikes, if they are set up right they are a really sweet handling bike. Your one is one of the very first of this model so best guess is that the frame would have been replaced on recall. The bikes came with polished frames but they were recalled and replaced after there were cracks found in a couple of them. Your frame should have been replaced with a painted frame which yours should have. I would also suggest that you should check that the overflow pipes from the fuel tank they tend to corrode at the alloy joint and block up, so it's best to make sure they are kept clear. Apart from that make sure that the valve clearances are kept in check and keep a look out for an aftermarket exhaust as the original ones weigh a ton. Cheers Steve
Thanks for the welcomes and cheers for the tips Steve shall check most of the bike at first opportunity anyway but its nice to know where to start, as for the frame I am pretty sure its painted and not polished.
Yes they should be. I spoke to Clive Woods who was the race mechanic for Jack Lilley and it isn't the best idea to speak to him about them as he had to change about 30 or more frames over when they were recalled so not a great deal of fun after the first ten or so
Its, well.........yellow Now thats bright Welcome and great choice of bike. If I have got this right the link shows my Bonnie at Rivi a few weeks ago, I live in Preston https://www.facebook.com/photo.php?...97aea42a2269349ccab9d4bdcdda8bba&size=800,542
