Finally got my new speed twin today, it is a beautiful machine. Doing a few miles now, but more riding over the weekend to run it in. Very snatch at low speed, but told this will improve when it has had its first service. Lovely to ride and so easy.
    Huge grin factor

Congrats mate, it is a stunning bike ! Not sure I would have been able to part with the Triple, but that twin does make you grin when you’re on it ! Safe riding!

glad your enjoying it I picked mine up with the 500 mile service just done and its still snatchy in 1st round town. only had it 2 days but I have got used to it now. I read that its because there set up too lean to get through the emissions dont know if thats true or not.

A speed triple is like an addiction. Once infected there is no cure.
Best of luck with the twin but you’ll never be free of the withdrawal symptoms.

Although I’ve never ridden the triple, I have never ridden a bike a like more than my speed twin! Good choice! If you haven’t already decided, do the x-pipe, made a noticeable difference!!

What difference does the x-pipe make? Is it the tech bike x-pipe you have?

I don’t believe it’s tech brand, I got it from triumph, and they installed it during the initial service. It really improves the sound, sheds some extra weight (the cat weights a ton!), adds a couple HP, and I felt made the bike more responsive.

Congrats on your new twin, they are lovely. Mine had its 500 mile service today and deffo felt a better on the way home generally it seemed to pick up quicker.
I also traded a speed triple, they are different bikes, the speed triple is more or less a super bike in a street bike outfit and a speed twin is more like a cruiser in a street bike outfit. They are a totally different ride, where the triple feels and encourages you to ride like your at silverstone, where as while on the twin you will be content burbling along a twisty country lane at a fairly comfortable speed. The twin is much more relaxing ride and its also very easy to ride.
They are both great bikes, but its down to where you are and what you want.
    Enjoy.

Thanks Stevee, great summarisation. I think the twin will suit me better and is a great looking bike.

    Enjoy your speed twin

I really love mine, it’s a great and easy bike to ride
Done just over 500 miles on mine now, and loving it, it’s just beginning to loosen up a bit, but still has a snatch throttle in sport mode, not so bad in raid or rain mode

I also have an x pipe fitted and that certainly helps with a better pick up and sound. I have the Tec one, and fittted myself, a bit of a pain to fit as there is not much room on the speed twin just like on the Thruxton, but not to bad if you take your time and your handy with the spanner’s

I’m rubbish with spanner’s, will see if I could get one fitted at the 500 mile service. Is there any issue with warranty or passing an MOT with it fitted? I’m looking forward to tomorrow and getting some more miles on her.

I would get a dealer to fit it for you in that case, no issues for Mot as bikes are not emissions tested as part of the Mot, they could be a case for a warranty submission being rejected I guess, but as Triumph dealers fit them on bikes still under warranty I would have thought this would be unlikely.

Well put, I couldn’t agree more. But I found an alternative solution by keeping my Speed Triple and getting a Royal Enfield Interceptor, not as much power or gizmos as the Speed Twin but a great sunny day fun bike and cheap as chips in comparison. I know this is probably the wrong place to recommend a different manufacturer but there you go, each to their own. This way I get to have my cake and eat it! I’m not knocking the Speed twin by the way, but it was out of my price range.

There’s been a discussion about the new RE Interceptor on the forum Ray with quite a few giving it the thumbs up.

Your right in that it doesn’t have the power or gizmos of the 1200 twins and can’t be compared with them, but with costing at least half the price of a 1200 what’s not to like.

Let’s face it with all the speed cameras about and condition of the roads they make the ideal sunny day ride.
My friend has one and he rode it when we went for a ride around North Wales a few weeks ago and did 200+miles, it didn’t miss a beat. Every time we stop somewhere there’s always someone who wants to talk to him about the Interceptor.
