I'm thinking of fitting a Glpro x type gear indicator to my tt600, and before I shell out 100 sods.... I thought I'd just see if any of you have fitted such a thing to your own bike, and if so - how you're getting on with it? Any problems?

    Many thanks,

I fitted a GIPro-DS to my CBF600SA. The DS version plugged into the diagnostic socket so there was no wire cutting or splicing. It worked really well, no glitches. There is a momentary time lag when you change gear while the processor works out what's happened and it doesn't know gear position when you stop. This is in comparison to native fitted gear position indicators which react instantly and know where they are when you stop. Was a much valued fitting to the bike, especially for a 600 with 6 gears.

Thanks for that Davy, Sadly there isn't a DS version for the Triumph but I dare say that I'll sort the 'X' version ok. I'd heard that it doesn't work whilst the clutch is engaged, and I guess that it's only fair to expect the processor to take a few moments to work out which gear is which. It is quite an expensive addition, and just wanted really to hear from someone who'd used it. The Datatag system is less expensive, but I gather the Glpro is the better.

    Again - many thanks.

installing the X version should be easy enough, just check and check again before cutting wires!

it needs to learn the gear positions when you first run. I did it on a paddock stand, otherwise on a quiet straight road. It calculates gear position by engine revs vs. speed that's why it doesn't know gear position when you're stationary.

here's a video clip which shows the GPI in action, bit blurred but that's camera shake

Thank you for the link, it does seem to work well and so I'll go ahead and order one. The wiring doesn't phase me - I just need to take my time.

    Again - Thank You Davy.

    Best wishes.

You're quite right, most of the time you don't look at it, but I find it quite useful slow-speed corners "am I in 2nd or 3rd"?
