Covid19 has touched all of our lives this year. At a time when most of us (in the Northern hemisphere) would be dusting out our two wheeled steeds for the coming year at the end of February, lockdown saw most staying off the tarmac until much later on. Now as September is well under way, an end to the years biking is in sight already.

OK, I know there are plenty of people who ride all year round and scoff at the mere idea of putting their bike/s away for winter, but I'll readily admit, whilst I was a year round rider in my youth, I've mothballed my bikes over winter for many years now. although I do hope to keep my 'new' VFR roadworthy throughout the coming cooler months.

So who has hardly used their bike/s this year? Who has used theirs about as much as any other year and who has carried on regardless and made an effort to get perhaps more miles in than usual?

I've been using my bikes a lot during July and August and I hope to get a fair few rides in this month too and hopefully October as well, but what about you guys (and girls)? How has the Covid situation affected your riding in 2020?

Covid has not affected my riding in any way and it really hasn't affected other parts of my life either. I just go on as I always have. The exception being when restaurants are closed, I obviously can't go in and have a meal.

Neither the winter in late 2019 into early 2020 or covid has impacted my riding in any big way. The first few week of lockdown in the UK I only rode for essential trips to the supermarket, but as the lock down was eased I was back on my bikes big style. This has continued all through this year :):)

I don't or do not want any other mode of transport. I use my bike for everything most days of the year. Covid hasn't dulled that and i am sure the bike is still healthy. Did more mile due to my Scottish trip and loved it. Well all of me except my backside.
    Regards
    Joe.

My bike was waiting for an mot, so I sorn’d it before lock down (about a couple of weeks outside the mot extension period) and my place of work changed (became my local hospital rather than travelling between all the hospitals in the Trust) so I ended up cycling a lot to work... remember that amazing weather we had?
So I only got my bike back on the road a couple of month ago, and though I’ve used it and got some nice rides, it’s been more weekend warrior than daily commute... I am using it today though! :D

I've got less miles done because I was forced to work from home during early COVID. Other than that it's been business as usual.
I'll rack up some more on my French trip in a week's time...

My time off the bike in 2020 started well before COVID restrictions hit, as some of you know. Due to a nasty bicycle crash mid-January I didn't ride one mile from then until August 1st. I typically ride close to 10K miles a year and this year I think I've probably ridden about 500 miles. A group of seven of us had a big 2K mile trip planned in June which we cancelled due to COVID. But I'd not have been able to ride by that point anyway and would have been bringing up the back of the group in my car.

So it has been a thoroughly odd and atypical year all the way 'round for me. One of the good things is that I live in Arizona so am not looking at putting up my bike for the winter on top of barely riding it all year long. In fact, the temps have started cooling a bit and we are coming in to one of the best times of the year to ride here in the desert! :sun::cool::heart: There still aren't any rallies happening but Mr. Sandi and I are thinking of doing at least a couple of one or two-overnighter MC trips to places in Arizona.:)

I wear my mask, maintain social distancing, and avoid large crowds. All of which I've been able to do on my bike.

TBH i haven't used the sprint anything like as much as I did the year before - everywhere I wanted to visit has been closed and any plans I had made have simply turned to dust

Soon be time to take the beastie off the road for the winter - I learned my lesson, whereas in the southeast I could ride all year.. up here in the Durham Pennines I tried that and ended up breaking my leg on black ice Dec 30th 2013.... learned my lesson and so its public transport up here (what there is of it) as the roads get bad

just hoping that the situation improves for all of us next year.... ride safe everyone

The only thing that stopped me riding the Tiger was when I put my back out but I'm not in Blighty under lockdown so it's not a fair comparison.
