New triumph owner of a speed twin, and couldn’t love the bike more. However I have a question about the fuel gauge. After my first fill up I noticed the fuel gauge took an abnormally long time to register the now full tank of gas. Maybe this a normal triumph thing, again I’m new triumph world, but struck me as odd. The dealership told me about it, but I didn’t really think much of it at the time...

Hmm, so weird but at least it’s the norm. Thanks!

If I haven't said welcome to the Family here it is now Never really pay much attention I must check. But I keep my tank full. Find its as easy to keep it full as half full.

True... No wonder its top heavy! Mind you, its a 75 mile round trip for me to a filling station

I think the gauges (spelled it right this time:)) are slow because its mechanical, with a variable rate potentiometer (I assume) so takes a little time to catch up. My old gt550 had a digital display which was instant.

I'm getting used to no gauge, just set the tripometer to zero and look to refill after about 180... Not run out, yet!

That's my solution, the good old odometer. All I have to do is to always remember to reset at the pump!

Normal - Same thing on my Street Twin. Even my owners manual says it can take up to 5 minutes to re-calibrate.

Pulled the 765 into the car park at Pateley Bridge the other day for lunch. When I came to get back on it the fuel light was on and I couldn't recall seeing it earlier so wasn't sure how far I'd driven on it. As there is a fuel station nearby I called in and filled it up.
£8.60 to fill it  now that's not right as its about a £17 tankful but it was brimmed so physically full.

Set off and the gauge caught up, showing full, so not sure what happened with the false reading. I think its safe to say the fuel gauges only give an indication and shouldn't really be totally relied upon.

    Anybody else have this happen?

Just watch The Missenden flyer on youtube. He loves Triumphs for the slow fuel gauge.

It was on when I got it, but only on the side stand. No light when it was upright!

It doesn't have a centre stand. I bought one off the bay of E, but the exhaust seems to be in the way. Aftermarket venom cans.... So to brim it, I have to be sat on it!

All of the above on my Thruxton. Took it back to the dealer a few days after purchase, they said “they all do it, can take 5-10 minutes to re-calibrate. Just used to it now, I reset the trip anyway & ride 150 miles before contemplating filling up
