Having done 690 gentle(ish) miles, the first 100 miles at 55mph max was absolute torture, on my 1200 Speed Triple I took it to the dealer for its first service. Tyre depth was measured as 1.9 front and 3.8 rear.

This was a bit of a wake up call, up until about 5 years ago then riding a 955 Sprint ST I was getting the traditional one front tyre for every two rears. I then changed to a Tiger 1050 followed by a Tiger 1200. It was then I became aware of the relationship swapping and it was two fronts for every rear. I chopped the Tiger in for a R Nine T but didnt have that long enough to notice tyre wear, that got swapped for a Speedy 1050RS. I think tyre wear for that was also front biased. I got a puncture in the front when it was almost worn down to the limit on the edges and the rear was also about half worn, perhaps a bit over halfway. My TTR was more traditional, two rear to one front.

Think I will need to keep a close eye on the front. it also means I may need to buy a new front before being in a position to change tyre brands.

S’funny, I thought most Speed Triples front wheels spent most of the time off the ground;)

I would think that 100 miles at low speed would barely present any wear. Sometimes the showroom OEM tires are less tread because quieter, less squirm, and back room deal with the manuf 'cause you're back to buy tires sooner. FortNine has a YT video on this.
