    Hi guys,

I’ve just taken delivery of my new speed triple RS this week having chucked in my speedmaster and ninja 650. Unfortunately I can’t get out on the roads at the minute as we’ve got a bit of snow in Newcastle at the moment, but that’s giving me the perfect opportunity to do any initial things required to that bike. Just wondering what bits and bobs I should definitely be looking at fitting. I had the dealers fit heated grips, tank pad and screen. I’ve also stuck an evotech tail tidy on the bike the day the bike arrived and I’ve been looking at ordering an evotech rad & oil cooler guard as well as a front fork bobbin if I can manage to get a bit of discount on them anywhere. Just wondering if there’s anything else people would recommend? I’ve been looking at the triumph frame sliders but they’re not cheap, especially when the website says it’s about an hours fitting.

    cheers
    Kris

Hi kris, Tbh, it sounds like all bases are covered.
There are r&g sliders that are cheaper and also a fenda extenda is worth it (but not a great fit but better than nothing imo).
As for the evotech tail tidy, fill out the gap with rubber as LOTS of water/rain/detritus will get in that gap.
I got a keyless fuel cap that i'd recommended without a doubt.

Oh, and change that battery in the keyfob for a brand new (decent) one and carry a spare under the seat.
    Enjoy!

    Welcome Kris,
If you carry a pillion, I recommend the Triumph grab rail. If not I recommend the rear seat cowl but you can't fit both at the same time. Also make double sure the cowl is fitted properly. A few members have lost them off their new bike's. Evotech and MGS do some good crash bungs for it. More sturdy than the R&G.

Thanks, I’d read a few places about the remote battery being naff so I’ll look at doing that. In terms of the rubber for the tail tidy, is it just a case of packing all of the holes from the outside or inside and what type of rubber?

Cheers for the advice. I’ll definitely be checking the seat cowl’s fitted properly as I don’t fancy the cost of having to replace it. I’m a fan of Evotech kit as the quality seems great so I’ll look at their crash bungs.

Glad to see a mention about the battery in the fob. I picked my 2020 speed up in October and it’s already saying battery in it is dead , glad it’s not only me , I’ve also reported to my dealer that I think the battery in my bike is knackered, for some reason just keeps dying after a week of not running , definitely don’t expect that with a brand new bike !!!
As for the rubber , there is some info if you search the forum , it’s basically a rubber sheet you need to cut to fit , it’s stops the water getting into the electrics , especially now they are all bunched up from fitting a tail tidy , if your UK I’ll post you what I had left over which will do the job - Or if you need a excuse to ride the bike I’m in Bedfordshire - could save you a couple of quid lol

That would be great Johnboy. I’m in Newcastle so as much as I’d love a trip down to Bedfordshire to tot up some of the running in miles, I don’t think plod would be happy at the minute if I were to do that. I’ll do you my address and you can give me your bank details so I can cover the postage.

    cheers

The Triumph frame sliders look a lot better in my opinion, the bolts they come with match the original engine bolt heads, the R@G ones have hexagonal bolt heads, although they do come with slip on plastic covers (they often fall off), the Triumph ones when fitted look aesthetically pleasing.
