Does anyone know how to take out those plastic caps that cover the the swing-arm spindle holes in the frame of the Speed Triple? I'm guessing they just prise out but I'd rather know before attempting it. These little fellahs:
I reckon the little dots around the outside play a part in their removal. Possibly locate something in two opposite dimples & rotate?
They actually spin freely. The smaller round bit in the middle is separate and I suspect that it pops out first but they seem to be very fragile and I don't want to break them. I need to take them out to use the Abba stand.
Gently prize it off lifting from opposite sides with a small flat blade screwdriver. Possible warm them up first with hot water to make them less brittle?
I haven't got a big enough basin to sink the bike up to the swing arm spindle. Any other suggestions?
According to the manual you just locate a chisel under the edge of the centre raised part & smack it with a hammer! Hope that helps
To be fair I didn't try, sorry but I didn't have too much confidence in your theory. I did have a little try with a sharp screwdriver but it wasn't sharp enough so I tried with a Stanley knife blade and as I met a bit of resistance I thought I'd wait until someone posted something even remotely sensible (no offence) or phone Bill Smiths tomorrow. But hey, thanks for absolutely naff all. You've been great!
To be fair you had your bike less than 24 hours and we were already advising breaking out the hammers! remember if at first you don't succeed get a bigger hammer
Who? Who says that? Go on, name me one person (OK, apart from Jim) who says that! View attachment 1103
Lets face it if you had already tried the other 3 emergency services and they cant help your pretty fecked anyway so might as well just ask pig
Fair comment, really, I just hope no-one from the coast guards is on this forum! Just sayin'...
