Hi Sam, you don't NEED one, but I found on my T100 that the fork brace and steering damper helped stability when going through a series of corners when the road surface was undulating (ondulé).
So basically you would add those to your fork, and by doing so improving your stability when manoeuvring corners and undulating routes. Interesting. Makes you wonder why it's not on by factory default. thank you for you answer thebiglad.
Been riding for a month, 600 miles, roughly, and so far, still have lots of anticipation and apprehension when engaging in sharp turn with a pillion on speeds above 40mph ( even alone for that matter ). I don't corner. Anything that could, in the future improve my handling is welcome. (And by that I also mean knowledge ).
Samuel - do you have the T100 or SE Bonneville? The T100 has the longer mudguards with stays, whilst the SE has a short mudguard with no stays. The T100 mudguard also has the bracket where it attaches to the forks built in. On my old T100 I swapped over to the mudguards from a Scrambler and so had to buy a bracket to attach the guard to the forks. This was a very solid chunk of metal and so if you have the SE version I wouldn't bother with the fork brace as you will be duplicating this function.
To be honest Sam nothing will improve your riding better than putting lots and lots of miles on you and your bike.
I am riding a T100 from 2014. But I really appreciate your comment. I'm here purely for knowledge, and there will be many more post alike as long as I am not creating a duplicate of a pre-existing thread.
Still, I'm considering advance rider lessons, when the cash will meet the need. Better safe than sorry.
advance rider lessons will be the best investment, better than a fork brace and damper for the moment.
Hi Sam the IAM do advanced riding tuition on Wednesdays from the McDonald's on Crow Rd starts around 6pm and from McDonald's at Robroyston park on Saturday from 9am .The first lesson was free and let's you know if the coarse is the thing for you ,lve found it excellent and even if you don't need the tuition it gets you out on your bike for a few hours,on roads you probably wouldn't normally use
Hi Sam, another vote here for advanced training - I used to go out with Northampton lads 15 to 20 yrs ago and the 'system' they trained me on has stuck with me and I still apply the principales even today.
A little troubled with the spelling are we ? Thanks for the advice ! I just cannot afford it right now ! I take suggestions regarding where in glasgow !
