Main beam works but dipped beam doesn't

So I'm checking fuses, connections, relays etc, bike in various states of undress .... turns out it's just the bulbs?

(step dad pointed out that the bulbs have two filaments ... one for high and one for dip ....:oops: ...note to self... KISS ..... Keep It Simple Stupid...)

Concern now is why the bulbs both blew and why my bike keeps running out of electrickery ....

Have yer put a voltmeter on battery whilst revving engine? If so what reading were you getting, just wondering if bike rectifier is working ok?

As has been said, first thing to do is to check the regulator is holding voltage between 13.5 and 14.5 volts with engine running, if it goes above 15 volts then it is most likely starting to fail.
If the regulator has failed then it is likely the battery may also be damaged, so best to get that tested and replaced if necessary.

Thanks for the replies guys ... reg/rec is new (but aftermarket part ... 2nd one I've tried in the last couple of months)
Waiting for an Original to arrive.
Battery was tested by a local dealer who said it was ok, but may change it anyway as the bike had sat for a while before I got it and the battery was flat (probably due to immobiliser)

Don't have the equipment to test it myself

Also the bad luck continues as I've had to travel a round trip to London and back (500 miles ish) for a meeting which lasted less than 2 hours which was bad enough but I've gone and lost my wallet on the way back changing between various trains, meaning I now have no access to any money till new cards arrives

Someone's got it in for me I think

Well the good luck may have started.
    Wallet was handed in.
Then the driver of the train (local Metro system) dropped it off at my house this morning contents intact.
He got the address from the driving license ...... His parents live at the bottom of my street so he knew it well
What are the chances of that????

You'd better sing the second line of the song to get the bike fixed:D
