Engine Light/sputtering/high Idle

Good morning! I bought a '14 Speedmaster recently. This is my first bike.

Three times since I got the bike, the engine light on the dash will illuminate, followed by some engine sputtering, which is then followed by the engine idling really high and I can't stop it. After ten minutes or so of this the engine will act normal and eventually the check engine light will go off.

My dad and some good buddies are all riders and mechanics and they are at a loss as to why my bike is doing this. Any thoughts?
