Hi just recently brought a 3 year old speed triple in standard form just out of storage, so apart from giving it a mini service decided to give it all the usual mods before use, including: exhausts and tail tidy etc. when fitting the indicators to the tail tidy i thought i heard a fuse blow so taking off the seat unit to investigate it set the alarm off and when disarming then re-arming it, the indicators weren't flashing as they were before so the alarm would not arm correctly and would keep going off, forgot to say data tool by the way, investigating further it was a 5 amp fuse that was blowing and after replacing, when rearming kept blowing the fuse then setting the alarm off once again, only when putting a 10 amp fuse in it seemed to sort it out, can anyone help with what the problem may be?

The following day after the above problem when starting up the bike i noticed the engine managment light was on, could this be due to the above fault or could this be due to straight through exhausts being fitted and just didn't notice the managment light being on when starting the bike after fitting the exhausts.

please anybodies help would be greatfully appreciated.

I used to have a 2011 Speed Triple with Arrow cans and Triumph led indicators.

Firstly if you have the Triumph LED's you need to install the LED flasher relay (about £16) and fitting a heavier fuse is maybe not a good idea as it can cause further issues elsewhere.

Exhaust, have you got the Arrows or another make? and have you have a new fueling map put onto the bike as you will not get the best out of the bike without one.

Is the Datatool alarm fitted by the dealer as if anyone else has DIY it themselves then it could be a complete dogs breakfast.

    Cheers

    Hi, thanks,
exhausts are sp engineering and seem to run ok but will be getting remap soon, alarm fitted by dealer and i know idealy not a good idea to fit larger fuse but ran out of smaller and the only other option at the time was to leave the ignition turned on all night as the alarm would not set.

Indecators are normal bulb type so just a direct change.
    Cheers

The next question is which dealer fitted it, because if it is Pure Truimph then it also could be a complete dogs breakfast, they put LED's on the back of my bike and left the front normal (complete bunch of monkeys)

Look at either Jack Lilley as they are meant to be good or Destination Triumph at Bramley out of Guildford who I use and have been absoultey brilliant as far as helping out.

Don't really know much about Bulldog as I have never gone over that way

    Cheers

Has anyone out there had this from changing exhausts ?.

Have you fitted just cans or a 3-1 system and if the latter is the lambda sensor connected or disabled?

If you've disconnected the lambda sensor then that might be creating the fault, you may need to have it switched off but I would contact your dealer first just incase it's nothing serious as they will be able to perform a diagnostic check.

Hmm, all I know is that Girlie Tigers have to go through 3 heat cycles to reset the EM light...thats running till the fan kicks in...killing the engine till cold (ish) then repeating...oh and not touching anything when running it up...

yeh thanks, Jack lilley says EM light will come on and register a fault if the battery ampage drops below a cirtain output which happened when i was having trouble with the fuse in the alarm, so yes now i need to go through the 3 heat cycles . THANKS FOR ALL THE HELP OUT THERE.

I you are have battery issues I would suggest having a look at a Motobatt battery as they have a load more kick, got one on my Daytona 1000 and no longer have problems starting the bike any more.
