My apologies if this is bl**dy obvious, but I had for some time been struggling with the C-Spanner, (and my associated technique) provided in my tool kit for adjusting the back wheel position (chain tension) on my S3. Almost to the extent were I dreaded going anywhere near it. The adjustment is particularly difficult where you're attemping to move the adjuster clockwise. Following a recent chain and sprocket change I decided to use a flat punch and nylon headed hammer. Place the punch in the appropriate place on the adjuster collar, a few taps and voila, precision, accuracy and simplity all in one action.

    Hi Paul
I have to say I have never had a problem with adjusting my S3
I understand there can be issues with the rear hub seizing quite quickly if it doesn't get some oily loving, mine was serviced when needed, and it has a smooth easy adjustment.
Now and again I give the hub full adjustment from slack to tight and then to its correct position just so it is kept loose and avoids seizing. Although I use a Scottoiler and the chain hasnt needed adjusting for 10k miles

To me, the use of a hammer and punch seems rather agressive and the chances of damaging the hub adjuster is too high.
