dropped my tiger 1200 pulling out of my drive … blind panic about picking her up because of the weight. With jacket stuck behind the wheel to stop the rolling she lifted surprisingly easy!!! Only damage was a bent pannier support a small scuff on the brush guard and paint damage on foot peg… what a robust bike !!
Well done mate. Been there, done that, with both Tiger 800 and Explorer 1200. Fecking heavy that 1200.
Ok fess time,I had a Norton with a Hillman Imp engine and all the youngsters down the local pub were like"come on geezer, start it up"so I flicked on the ignition,4 squirts of juice through the down draught Weber and jumped on the kick start, she started first time as usual, but this time in gear and traveling down the car park with me attached to the bars..the heaviest part of picking that one up was the embarrassment and hearing DD laughing in the future
Bloody hell DD I wish I had seen that, put a right smile on my face this morning, but honest I'm not laughing.
If anybody has ever been up Howarth Main Street, you'll know how steep it is, if not imagine a F***ing steep cobbled hill. Yam XS500, girlfriend on the back, bike facing uphill and decided to turn the bike round to come downhill. Got halfway round the turn and stalled the twat, shortarse leg dangling desperately for road contact must have been a foot short. Over we went, I managed to jump clear and just managed to stop the bike crushing the poor lassie. Fed raced, and a few expletives got it stood back upright, fair crack to her, no panic or pisstaking.
Hi Steve, Great picture but it does not do justice to how steep that street actually is. But no, I wasnt at the top end by the Black Bull it was about half way up on a real steep bit. Still have a chuckle to myself every time I visit Howarth and its about 35 years ago now.
How mad is this ... Ive dropped 2 in the snow. The roads were clear and only the side roads and drives werent and the bikes were my only transport.
Ok! One winter years ago, when they could get really cold etc, I was on my way to work one morning after a night of a sudden freeze, did a sharp right into a petrol station forecourt and as I carried on the rapid turn to the pumps I hit some ice, and down I went, the bike carried on on this slide, generated by the car wash that wasn't in use to it freezing over, and ended up in said car wash, it was only a cx500 so I knew I could pick it up easily, so I prepared myself, started the lift and it slid away from me, 3 times this happened til I got it up against a wall where the little bugger could slide no more. Off course I accept your sympathy for my predicament
Anyone that says that never rode one Had 2. Loved em, mind you I suppose Quasimodo's mum loved him! Wouldn't have caught me dead on a brown one tho! ( errm! Can I say that!) Looking at the prices of some of them someone must love them!
