Digging for gold!

well I recently bought a 1996 Tiger. It hasn't been started for 5 years. I took the carbs off today, and OMG! I found a lot of gold! Not the kind you want either!

You couldn't even see light through the jets! In fact I'm sure something was growing in one of them!

I shall be setting to in the next week or so and stripping the carbs down. Does anyone have any pointers for me? I am going to take photos as I go as I'm bound to forget where a couple of bits go.

do one carb at a time so you do not get all the bits mixed up and use an air line not a piece of wire to clean the jets etc and last of all check the float level hight before closing them up, have fun it is not a bad or hard job to do

that looks like good advice,one at a time, the main jets are not all the same size for a start

Good luck - follow Keiths advice and you should be OK. Watch out for the little brass collar which sits above the main jet. This can drop out if you remove the jet and may not be noticed (guess who did that?). Bike won't run without it and it only fits in one way.
