Had a new rear tyre fitted to the Speed3 then when getting it MOT`d a week later I noticed something wrong with back wheel, closer inspection revealed some missing powder coating where the weight had been removed.
Spoke to the manager and he didn't seem that surprised? so is this a common thing as they had put new front and rear on to start with - with no problems . So he says drop either the bike or just the wheel off with them and they can touch it up, also slightly miffed at why they didn't mention it at the time.
So whats acceptable, a touch up or wheel refurb? had a price today for £70 + vat so not cheap.

To be honest a touch up is fair in my opinion, so long as your happy with the overall finish, to be honest if it took you a week to notice it then I'm sure you'll live with his touch up,

Touch up I think is fine too, but I think it should be triumph doing the fix, shouldn't have come off in the first place!

The original weights look pretty fixed on, think I may heat mine before taking it to the shop for changing tyres next week.

Just out of interest what tyres did you go for?

Thanks for the replies, will see what they plan on doing to it but still not happy that they let me take it away and said nothing....
Moe, replaced the rear with same as.... Avon 3D Ultra Sport, got 5k out of the last one and it really needed replacing for the MOT but more than happy with its performance

To be honest the manager was in the same situation as yourself, chances are the tyre fitter said nothing to him about it, which no doubt covers his not surprised reply (probs happened many times)
As said by moe good idea to try and remove yourself by gentle heating prior to fitting. (Buts thats only going to help you the next time lol )

    Thanks,

Not sure what to get but definitely not the supercorsas on at the moment, 2800 miles and they are on the wear knob!

Metzeler roadtecs supposed to be pretty good... Mileage and grip.

How deep is it? Will a layer of paint smooth it out?
There is always a chance of this happening,
The fitter is only doing his job and if hes like everyone else, trying to do it well. The thought of getting blasted probably put him off saying to the customer straight away.
Ive got marks on my wheels from when they changed the tyre, last time
    Lastly, lube your chain mate.

Its full depth ...down to the metal. As for the chain, I was waiting for a comment and it looks worse than it is, will be getting a thorough clean and lube when the wheels off.

They will have the paint code and some filler should end up good as new. :)

Black Hammerite and T-cut to polish it in and then forget about it.
I certainly wouldn't be spending £70 or even thinking of taking the wheel off unless I was preparing it as a show bike.
