hi all. has any one else found there clock to be rubbish and gaining time quickly?
i know its a tiny display anyway and hardly any use, but i like things to work if fitted. is this a common problem? perhaps theres a fix/replacement option? anyone found a good stick on option to use instead?

answering my own question here! ;)
i dismantled the fairing and took the clock unit out to have a nosey how it all worked. the 2 pin power connector pins were all green and nasty. i gave them a scrape with a tiny screwdriver and a splosh of wd40 and reassembled.
so far the clock has kept good time.
i assume that, as when the battery is disconnected, the clock resets itself, so the bad connectors were intermittently cutting the power supply hence random times showing on the clock.

whilst i had the fairing off i took the opportunity to add a voltmeter to the dash to keep tabs on charging and battery state.

also. i had an old aftermarket beak from an old bike lying around in the garage, so i fitted that too. what do you think???

I had a similar problem with a Grandfather clock the other week and a friend of a friend, 83 year old, turned up and sorted it out :joy:
One eye ( partially blind), one ear (partially deaf) kept moving but he certainly knew what a TIK and a TOK should sound like  and sorted.

Glad your problem is sorted, and the experience will no doubt benefit all with the information bank this site creates;)
