    Hi all,

Newbie poster here! Thought I would say hi and nice to meet you all!

I'm interested in people's thoughts on the chrome flaking issue on the Bonneville Engines casings. has anyone tried to 'brush' this to create a chrome effect or combat the issue?

to give you some background, Bonneville's are the reason i ride. I have been looking for one for sometime and recently bought my first! its on a 51 plate and needs some tlc so looking to tidy her up a bit.

    Thanks all in advance!

Hi Levy, you could try renovating your existing cases, but if it were me I would be watching on Ebay for any offers on brand new ones. I've seen them for very modest money. Even if you did one case at a time, to keep the financial hit down?

    Hi Dave,

Thanks for your comment, I have thought about doing this. However, is this quite a large amount of work? forgive my naivety here but will i need to drain any oil out of the bike or anything like this to remove these covers or is it a straight swap?

    thanks

Hi and welcome to the forum.
Dave is right - keep a look out on ebay for these (and other parts). My cam cover was shot and looked a complete mess when I got the bike but I managed to pick one up a refurbished one for half the price of a new one.
    Good luck with the bike.
