Why oh why don't they put centre stands on all new motorcycles these days? I have a Versys again no centre stand so bloody awkward to remove either wheel or adjust the chain, I got round this by fitting an electric " Person lifter" the type they use in hospitals which has a lifting capacity of 200KG fitted it to the overhead beam in the garage then just drive or reverse the bike in depending if I am working on the front or back! The America is a different beast as I don't trust the weight of it on the beam in my garage so I got hold of a center stand which was pretty easy to fit and I can just about manage to lift the bike on the stand by myself. Trouble is first day out with it fitted I managed to scrape it by quiet a bit just tootling round a left hander, checked it when I got back and it's lost a bit of metal but it is as high as it will go as it is just under the can any closer and it will rattle on the can. Easier for oiling and adjusting the chain and removing either wheel but a pain if it's going to ground so easily.

If it's easy to fit, why not fit it when needed? It's not as if you'll have to torque it up as you'll be taking it off again

The thing is with the versys if it's the same as the er6 it has a bloody stubby exhaust in the way. As for the America it sounds like it's left off for clearance issues. Old faithful paddock stand needed.

Yes it is the same as the ER6 in fact the bikes have a lot in common, but I have seen a very similar bike ( Can't remember which make now ) and it did have a center stand fitted with the exhaust in the same place that's why I noticed it so it must be possible to fit one.

Now that's interesting as I've one similar to the er6. I've a cfmoto 650tr which looks like a pan European with Kawasaki running gear and need a centre stand too.

Honestly, I'm not sure BMW are able to do anything central and symmetrical on a bike. :p:p:p
