I'm after a new rear tyre for my Aprilia Tuono. The particular tyre I want is some £50 cheaper if I buy it on line from Italy (with free delivery) than I can find one here in the UK. My question is are there any import taxes applicable on such purchases that might negate the attraction of buying cheaper from overseas?
I inquired last week about a pressure washer from Eire as it was £75 cheaper than the best UK price. Don't think I'll be buying it @johne We are simply ripped off here and the system is self protecting
Which tyres you thinking of bud and for what Tuono? If it's over £135 then I think you are liable for VAT and import tax. https://www.gov.uk/goods-sent-from-abroad/tax-and-duty
One of these, 190/55/17 and yes it would be more than £135, so probably not worth it when you add on VAT and import tax. Thanks Helmut.
Thanks Helmut My local bike shop will fit and balance a Corsa 4 for £220 to a loose wheel, so if I can't find a Corsa 3 or a 2 (cheaper) I'll probably do that, he gets all my MOT work and he's a nice chap to boot.
