I just bought a 2016 Thruxton R with only 1900 miles on the clock. It's in absolutely showroom condition, so I am assuming the issue I'm having should be a minor fix or adjustment. But this being the 44th bike I have owned, I have never come across this before.

So, I have large hands and have adjusted the brake lever accordingly, out from the handlebar. When I grasp the lever, the first pull comes almost halfway to the grip before applying the brakes. If I release and grab again immediately, the lever stays far from the bar like it should. This happens every time I apply the brakes.

Any ideas as to what's going on here and how to fix it?

Sounds like air in the brake lines to me. I would be inclined to put some new fluid into the system and see how you get on.
