Rideout Bop 10th Anniversary Ride

For the Bay of Plenty Chapters tenth anniversary, they held a mystery number ride around the Coromandel.

We rode to Whitianga on Friday, to reduce accomodation expenses, with the obligatory refreshment stop.




Early rise to ride to Whangamata for registration and catch-up with other chapters

 

First stop was back at Whitianga for toilet stop and watch the offshore power boats.





After collecting some wayward riders from town, we were heading to Coromandel town for lunch. This involved the winding trip through the hills Weather was overcast but hot

 

Another rest spot through the hills looking back to Auckland city past the girth of Thames

 

Final rest stop before the hills back to Whangamata at the historic Kopu Station hotel

 

Dinner, prize giving and goodbyes had us ride back to Whitianga before dark.
The loop was 235km/146miles and with riding there and home we had a 450km/280miles weekend.
Squeaky rear wheel had me worried after replacing bearings, but tension adjustment one turn up removed the belt squeak

 

I should have checked the badge photo before posting, but nice new one for my vest

 

Was almost perfect @Baza , with Autumn started I don’t like complaining about the heat, but it was warm at altitude through the hills. Nothing that a cold brew couldn’t quench

I understand the waterlust for us divers, must be hard not having it close by.
We are spoiled living on a narrow island with water on both coasts near by.
Yes, we have women riders in Auckland chapter and many more around the country
